Thanksgiving Come and Gone

We had a great, healthy Thanksgiving day. Lots of benefits to staying at home…mainly, I set the menu, I was able to spend more time with the kids and less time running around trying to keep the sleep deprived/travel logged children from totally losing it.

The cons included: more leftovers than we know what to do with, and all the dishes to clean!!!

Seriously, we had a great time. Mark and I went shopping on Friday (sort of) and actually finished our shopping up on Saturday, sans crowd. We also got all our Christmas decorations out and up. The tree will be up and decorated next Saturday.

We were the first in our neighborhood to have the Christmas lights out (high five…anyone?!…anyone?!). Granted, several people just got back into town today and tonight we saw a lot of lights up. But we were the first and don’t you forget it!

Answered Prayer

I’m better…much better. My fever went up during the night to only 99.5 and then came down on it’s own…now it’s off to cooking and preparing for tomorrow.

No more stomach bug and so far the kids are not showing signs of getting what I had. I pray Mark doesn’t get it either.

Sicko Updates

I’m still feverish. I’ve depleted my magazine supply and have successfully surmised that there is nothing worth watching on tv during the day. I’m frustrated because I want to be up doing things but have no energy nor feel like moving much. I’m up more today than yesterday. If I’m running a fever tomorrow, then I’ll go to the doc. Since my fever has been so high (up to 103 a personal all time best), I more than likely have a virus which means it can’t be treated with antibiotics and it’ll just have to run it’s course. I’m hoping the kids don’t get it though.

On the stomach bug front, Ace is almost over it. Liam had a little bit of diarrhea yesterday, so we’ll see.

Keep praying that none of the kids get it. Especially little Josiah.

Hopefully…

We’ll have a happy Thanksgiving. Not sure it’s going to be the ideal one that I was hoping for. I’ve been running a fever since Sunday and been achy all over. Today, Ace has successfully had an upset stomach that leaked all the way on to his undies. I guess we’re fulfilling my family’s tradition of having someone sick on a holiday. Ace and I like to go together.

Thankfully (since it’s Thanksgiving), Mark took off today to help me out. He only has half a day tomorrow but I’m not sure if he’s going to go in or not. Then he’ll be off from Wednesday on which will help a tremendous amount.

Precious Moments

*When Josiah finishes eating, Mark will grab him and ask him if he’s “tanked” up. I just think that’s cute. Josiah always grins so I guess he thinks it’s cute too.

*My dad calls Josiah, J.B. Which is a good thing because this past weekend, he introduced him as Joshua…oops! I like the nickname, and again, Josiah thinks it’s great because he grins at my dad all the time.

Gotta run get my floors ready to shine! I sure hope they’re able to get them clean…they need to be cleaned so badly.

It’s my birthday!!!

Well, today is the day I surprised my mom and came into this world. As story goes, I couldn’t wait to get here and she delivered me within 30 minutes of getting to the hospital. I’ve been rushing about ever since. I wish one of my babies came out that fast.

Anyway, I digress. Mark has been treating me like a queen this week including gifts for every day of the week. Since my birthday is on a Wednesday, we will be celebrating at church tonight…which is good because all of our friends will be there. So for my cool gifts:

On Monday, I got some Edy’s LOADED Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream…we shared that all around with friends who came over, thankfully!

On Tuesday, I got a new cell phone. My old one would turn off at odd times, including when I have emergencies. I love this new one. For those that don’t know, we don’t use the expensive plans for cell phones because we just don’t use them frequently enough. We have VOIP (don’t ask me to explain, I still don’t understand…but I know it’s cheap), so I don’t have to use my cell to make long distance calls. So, we go with prepaid cell phones and our cell bills total about $20 a month or less and sometimes (when we take long trips) are a little more. This is a nice flip phone and he even got me a carrier for it…very convenient.

Today, I got a nice certificate for my carpet to be cleaned (yes, that’s what I asked for…I’m old, bear with me). I also got my hubby home from work early, to work out at the gym, and some cards, and a sweet cd from my in-laws.

Tomorrow, I get to go hang out with some MOPS moms in the evening and on Friday, my carpet will actually be cleaned and Mark is staying home from work to help with the kids since the carpet people will be here at 8:30!!!

Needless to say, I am having a great birthday…if it weren’t so hot!!!

Life is good 🙂

This weekend and Aceisms

To kick off my birthday celebrations…the big 3-0 on Wednesday…We visited with my family, watched my dad’s team when the regional championships, and played with my niece and nephew. Pictures to follow. Now the Aceisms:

As we were walking down to greet my dad after the game, Ace told Mark, “Granddaddy’s my hero!”

He ran up to my dad and patted him on the leg and yelled up, “You did a great job, Granddaddy.”

All unprompted and sweet as can be. Do ya think he looks up to my dad?

Daddy’s Football

The weekend before my birthday we traveled to my parents’ house and got to see their regular season ending game. They won! They made it all the way the way to the quarterfinals before being beaten by North Gwinnet. They did great even up to the last two minutes of the game when they scored a touchdown, got a two point conversion, recovered an on sides kick, and kicked a field goal. Dad’s still not sure if this is his last year or not.

It’s been one of “those” days!

Apparently, nobody sent the memo about the time change to Liam and Ace and they were officially up at 6:30 a.m. And when they got up, they woke up Josiah. Zoe slept in until almost 7:30.

After getting up, I attempted to get in the shower, but Liam’s diaper leaked during the night, so I had to change him. Then when I picked up Josiah, he pooped, so I had to change him. With everyone ready for the day, I ran to take a shower.

After the shower, Josiah started getting fussy, so I attempted to put him down and kept trying for about two hours. He wouldn’t go to sleep. Every time I tried to put him down, he woke up. Or if I tried to put him down awake, he wouldn’t go to sleep. On top of that clingy Liam was following me around all morning wanting me to hold him.

After about an hour and half, I decided we would head to the gym. I got everyone ready and as I closed the locked door behind me, I looked in my hands and all I had were my van keys. Ugghh. I locked myself out of the house.

Wait, it gets better…we make it to the gym and clingy Liam (who has been here since last week) starts screaming bloody murder for me not to leave. I eventually get him pried off of me and headed to sweet relief and burning calories time.

After we exercised, I made it to Target to get a birthday present and try to find something to replace our mobile dvd screen without actually having to buy a new system (we have a dual screen and one of the screens went out a couple of weekends ago…we only use it on long trips). We got the present and Josiah was hungry, so I tried to feed him while I checked out, but then I realized I didn’t have my wallet, that I had left it in the car.

So, I headed to the car amidst myriads of why we didn’t get the present. Then we headed back in, paid for the present while getting Josiah situated to nurse and then got a slushy to drink while I sat down and fed Josiah.

Now, back to being locked out of the house. I called one of my friends who had a key and by luck, she was heading out our way today. So, as I was leaving Target she called to say she was at a local restaurant. Great, I thought, I’ll get to hang out with her while the kids play after we eat. I’ll get my key and be home in a jiff after that.

However, Josiah did his duty right after he finished eating and when I laid him down in the car to change him, it was up his back and all over his clothes. I have three kids yelling and/or screaming in their car seats and I stripped Josiah naked. I picked him up to wipe off his bottom and he promptly spit up all over me and himself. I decided then that we would not be going anywhere to eat…it was drive thru city for us. I got Josiah strapped in his seat when Ace announces that he needs to go potty. Out comes our handy dandy training potty (always kept for emergencies) and down he went on it.

I was glad to be back home after that little adventure. I think Liam is so cranky because he’s getting his two year molars in. I’m ready for our happy lovey Liam to come back though.

Now, it’s off to one of Zoe’s friends to celebrate her birthday since we won’t be here to attend the party.

Phew!

I know I’ve been behind on posting anything lately. We’ve been swamped…our activities included the following:

Thursday: MOPS/doctor for Josiah/MOPS and then out to a MOPS get together that evening
Friday: corn maze/clean house
Saturday (early): Travel to Columbia to get pictures made. Yeah, I know it’s far from our house but they really do the best job and our kids looked adorable! I unfortunately, had something wrong with my eye so I look half drugged in all the pictures. But what are you going to do!
Sunday: up early again for church/fall festival.

Upcoming this week:
Tuesday: parents day at ballet including dressing up and candy/a Trick or Treat charity event that MOPS will be a part of including dressing up and lots of candy
Wednesday: really, really Halloween including dressing up and lots of candy

Yes, I know it’s lots of candy but this is our candy stash for the whole year and will/should last that long.

Josiah had his check up today for 4 months and I’ll post that info with pictures later tonight. Zoe finished up speech today and we are so excited. We plan on celebrating tomorrow with a special out to eat breakfast…her choice.

Enjoy your precious ones today and this week. I can’t wait to let everyone know what the kids are going to be for Halloween. If you haven’t voted yet, get to it…just two more days left.
