Just a few things…

1. No one has thrown up in over 24 hours! Let’s keep it going kids…or not really going…I mean staying down…yeah, that sounds better.
2. I need an explanation as to why an item I purchased and was shipped on January 14th is still not here. It was shipped priority mail with delivery confirmation that states it’s sitting in a warehouse in Atlanta…and has been there since January 15th. Can anyone say most frustrating??? They get until February 15th and then I’m calling it quits and eating my money (since USPS won’t do anything) and getting another (it’s Ceili Rain’s cuddly and one for back up) somewhere else and not having it shipped through USPS!
3. Still no news on what we are going to do about our adoption and country. Lots of praying going on there…which for me is hard since I want to know now, right now, what God wants us to do (big sign with bright flashy lights would work great!). But we’re praying and waiting…
4. Why is it that on Mondays my children think that pulling out all toys and scattering them across all rooms is okay…just Mondays mind you. And that when I say, “School Time” it means scream and yell and cry and be generally grumpy…this is all on Mondays, now…the rest of the week we’re good to go!

Here We Go Again!

Ace got up this morning saying his tummy was hurting. Translated it usually means, “I didn’t like what we were having for supper so I didn’t eat and now I’m really, really hungry.” Turns out, this time, that it really meant, “My tummy is hurting and I’m going to throw up the minute something touches it.”

Which is what he did for a few hours this morning. By lunch time he was much better and ate his breakfast and his lunch. It took us awhile to get him up from nap and he picked at supper and said his tummy was hurting a little bit but right now he’s running around the house in pjs waiting on his “purple juice” and ready to watch some of the Super Bowl before everyone gets back from Awana.

So now the question on my mind is…who’s next??? We shall see…

Adoption Prayers Please

Well, it looks like we will be either on hold with our adoption or seeking God’s will in another country, or even here domestically. Please pray for us and for the country we were going to adopt from. They are currently, and have been for over a year, working on trying to put in place newer safer adoption laws that will protect the children, their birth families and the families adopting them. So far, progress has been extremely slow in getting these new laws in place and the president of the country announced last night in an address that all international adoptions would be put on hold. We are waiting to hear from our program coordinator to see if this is all true. If so, then we’ll be put on an indefinite hold since we have not turned in our dossier for the country, nor been connected with a child. I’ll post more as I know it.

This All Happened on Sunday!!

Ace painted a rock at church in Sunday school this past week. Here’s the conversation about why he painted a rock.

Mark: Ace, who did you talk about in Sunday school?

Ace: Jacob

Mark: What did Jacob use to sleep on?

Ace: A rock.

Mark: After Jacob had the dream while sleeping on the rock, what did he do with the rock?

Ace: He planted it. It didn’t grow anything.

(Correct answer would have been he built an alter/ebenezer/memorial…oh well…so close)

****

Pastor L told the baptismal participants to be sure and look for the last step down into the baptism waters because sometimes people miss it. At the end of his talk, Zoe raised her hand to ask a question.

Zoe: What happens if you miss the step going into the water?

Pastor L: Well, I guess you’ll be baptized before I can get to you.

****

Grandmere and Papa made the trek to see Zoe baptized. My friend, A, asked Liam if Grandmere was here (meaning at church).

Liam: No.

A (thinking that she must have the grandmom name wrong): Well, who’s here?

Liam: I am.

And the last one. This has nothing to do with our kids but it was funny. Another large family has a van close to the same color as ours but it’s a 15 passenger where ours is just a 12 passenger. One of the family members, a boy in first grade (I believe), came walking up with one of our minister’s sons. He kept saying to the minister’s son, “See, it’s not ours!” I guided them a few cars down to their van saying that they both wanted to be Characters. It was quite funny to us! So, C, I’ll take your kids any day! Even P!

I have THE shirt!

So, I have a friend who wanted to give me something at church on Sunday but she had to see me open the gift. Hmmm…I knew she is devoted blog reader and I knew she was very creative. So, I knew something was up. I got the best and coolest shirt…

Okay, so my expression leaves something to be desired. Read on dear friends…

Oh yeah, I put the shirt on right away and paraded around the church. I need to get one for another friend who just delivered her 12th! Isn’t that an awesome baby gift. Oh, and she got some stuff for Ceili Rain.

She even spelled her name correctly. What’s so funny is that those things on the left side are burp cloths and I had just told Mark that afternoon that I needed to make some more burp cloths for Ceili Rain and get them embroidered as I only had three burp cloths for her. Ta da! Beautiful cloths for her to spit up all over and I didn’ t have to do the work!

Thanks so much L! I love them all!!!

Zoe’s Baptism

Zoe decided that she was ready to be baptized this month. Our church does baptisms once a month. So, Zoe, and 30 of her closest church family were baptized! I confess, I cried…I think I was the only mom in the baptismal who cried…but hey, it’s my baby, and I am so excited to see her take such a mature, obedient step in following Christ. Ace said she was getting “babatized” and that when he asked Jesus in his heart he could get “babatized” AND “get to drink the grape juice and eat the cracker.” Stay tuned…I got some more good ones coming up!

Getting ready!
Waiting her turn!

Pastor L and Zoe

Christ died for our sins…

Buried and…

Rose again on the third day! Praise God for this act of obedience in walking with Christ!!

Snow Day!!

It actually snowed here. A little bit. Well, it really snowed a lot all and it lasted all day. I thought it would be momentary, so as soon as I spotted snowflakes we ran outside and then when it kept snowing we came back in, put on hats and coats and traipsed back out. After that it was time to sip hot chocolate…oh yeah! Of course, it may have snowed but it didn’t stick. It was way too warm the past few days to stick, but the kids enjoyed seeing it for the first time. The last time we had any snow was a light dusting when Zoe was a couple of weeks old. She told me she didn’t remember that. Here’s my snow dudes and dudette…I made sure to get some close ups of the snow for my friends who wouldn’t believe me.

See the snowflake??

Josiah feelin’ the snow.

And yes, my boys are in their pjs, but they are blanket sleepers and they were nice and toasty. They requested a pj day and since we didn’t have anywhere to go, I agreed to it. I can be nice sometimes.

Adoption Expo and a Quick Visit

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to attend an adoption expo at a church in North Carolina. On the way, we stopped and visited with some friends. They have a 2 year old and a little almost six month old. We had a great visit and the kids loved playing with the 2 year old.

The adoption expo was great. A church sponsered it through their orphan care ministry and Mark and I learned a lot. We also got to see Meridith Andrews perform/lead worship and that was wonderful too. Anyway, no major incidences with the kids. We all survived a compact hotel room and to kill time the night before the expo we let the kids take over Wal-Mart. It was too cold to do much else…and it was a very small town. Zoe, our ever social butterfly, made friends with a girl who is about her age. She had been adopted from China. Somehow I doubt adopting a child internationally is going to be a big issue for her. Liam made friends with some high schoolers who were entertaining kids with a craft to be sent on a mission trip. Ace just hung out and colored and chased Josiah around. Good times, good times.

‘R’ on the steps. He is so adorable!

Ace and Liam loved ‘R’s new Christmas present from us. I have to admit it was pretty cool…and it had an off button…big plus!

Here is ‘E’ with his mom. Sorry, C, about that expression but that was the best we had. Not sure what the face was about.
