What to Do with Liam

Hold him prisoner!

Jail Break

Yes, yes, Liam has been in to a little mischief today. He and Ace thought it’d be fun to take Zoe’s liquid body wash and pour it on Liam’s head. As he walked downstairs to show me, I panicked thinking it was going to go in his eyes and rushed to clean him off. Now his hair smells like Hello Kitty! Body wash…yum. He looked up at his shampoo and said, “Dat’s soap. I don’t pay wit dat.” Wish he had realized that before they dumped the whole bottle on his head.

And another Liam. He’s told me two days in a row that he had to go do #2 and has gone in the potty. #1 still is in the pants. Once again, my kids are doing things backwards. All three now have potty trained #2 extremely easily. He’s the first one to do #2 first though. Yep, we’re weird.

Major Surgery and Minor Aches

I had to do major surgery last night. Lambie, Liam’s cuddly, lost his blankie. Not sure if this is Lambie number one or number two but either way, he needed his blanket fixed. I’m also not sure how he lost his blankie but he did and his sweet owner came to me and asked me “fix it pease.” So, we started surgery. Liam was by Lambie’s side the whole time, whispering words of ocmfort (not joking!). Turns out I didn’t sew it completely on the right way and after surgery, Liam threw him down…no fear, he did sleep with him last night, though.

Concerned Daddy!

Kisses for a safe surgery!!

Alright, so we traveled to “Old McDonald’s” yesterday to meet up with some MOPS friends. The kids were all excited. They ate, played, and came home with bruises and bumps…well, two of them did. I’d thought I’d share this so everyone will know there were witnesses!

Zoe ran into Ace and pushed him into the edge of the slide. As soon as it happened, I whipped out my witch hazel (Tucks pads, for hemerroids…yeah, I know, but thanks to a friend, they help to ease bruising and owies…they really do). Unfortunately, this time it didn’t work so well and his face remained red for the rest of the day. Today it’s not as noticeable.

Zoe thought she’d get a “slide” burn and take off some skin on her knee and here’s the aftermath. I didn’t put witch hazel on this because I didn’t want her to scream from it burning. She came up to me after she had calmed down a bit and said, “I think I need to take a minute off the playground.” And that she did, then she ran off and played. She only limped half of the day and just screamed as she took a shower at bedtime.

No owies here, just a cutie with chocolate milk down his shirt. He had to get a picture since I was taking a picture of the other two.

JB was just laying beside me so cute…still no owies on this one, although he’s done several flips into the dry bathtub and a couple down our two stairs…no big bruises yet!

“Bella” and “The Ultimate Gift” Reviews

Mark and I have had the opportunity to see a few movies over the past couple of weeks. We use a rental service that sends them and we can keep them and then return the when we’re done. This works great if you are like us, who sometimes don’t get to watch a movie the moment you check it out and if you don’t like going to video stores because of all the “junk” that’s on the shelves and your kids have to look at….okay, that’s another post.

Anyway, we saw two really good movies. One was Bella, created as an independant film. It recieved first place at the Toronto Film Festival which is a pretty great honor. The film is the first from a trio of men who felt God calling them to create positive movies in Hollywood. Boy, did they! Bella is their first film. The story was wonderful. Complete….amazing. The acting was even better than I expected. And the cinematogrophy was wonderful. Mark and I both enjoyed it. However, as a girl, I have to tell my other “girl” friends that you definitely need your hankie on this one. I was a blubbering mess by the end. While this film is excellently done, the message is what hits the hardest. It’s about life and how beautiful, fleeting, and delicate it is. Not only is this a pro-life movie (and that’s all I can say without giving too much away), it’s also pro-adoption (there’s another hint…now go rent it). Guess what else…there is no cussing, drugs, sex! Ahhh, a true family centered film. However, for some of the content (serious side) I would say it would be for older teen children…not younger ones. For a film shot in 23 days with hardly any budget…it’s comparative to its big Hollywood studio movies…if not better!

The other movie saw was from the new branch of Fox called Fox Faith. Fox Faith is responsible for bringing several other films to the big screen and DVD such as the Love’s series based on Janette Oke’s book…the awesome Amazing Grace, One Night with the King (pretty good too), Because of Winn-Dixie…okay you get the picture. Well, this past winter, they release a film in select theaters called The Ultimate Gift. I wanted to see it, but you know how it goes. So, we were able to rent it this past weekend. Oh my! This is an amazing film. It’s based on a book by Jim Stovall with the same title. And guess what?! No cussing, drugs, nudity. Again, it’s a hankie movie! But the story behind it is so beautiful. I highly recommend it. It was very well acted with James Garner (American Presidents fame and other old stuff that came out before I was born) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and other cast members that I can’t remember. The story is very endearing and encouraging.

I guess I’m just blown away by how well these films are. Neither had big budgets but they were able to come out with a great story, acting, and cinematogrophy without compromosing the values and beliefs that outline their faith. If you get a chance for a date night, or if you just want to see how God is using people of faith in Hollywood, check out these two films! The more we watch films like this the more films like this Hollywood will make (does that make any sense???).

Adoption Update

We will be meeting with our case worker in the next few weeks to go through our homestudy stuff! I should not, but am continuing to be amazed at how God is working in all of this. Here’s a very small example (but considering gas prices it’s pretty big). We mailed off our homestudy application almost two weeks ago. Since the agency we’re using is in state, and close to where relatives are, I thought for sure it would get there and we would hear from the agency within the week. However, we didn’t. I felt God just telling me to wait on Him, so I did. We got a call this past Saturday from the case worker. It just so happens that she has two other families in our area that she is visiting on a certain day and she can come to our place too! That means that her mileage reimbursement will be split three ways. I have to say I was not really looking forward to paying for miles since that adds to our mounting adoption costs! Now, it won’t be that bad. Also, I thought we had to do two in home visits and one office visit, but we only have one home visit (one mileage fee) and two office visits (which are fine because I want to go where she is and do some touristy things as well!

Another praise: We got rain! After no rain for over a month, this was a wonderful blessing. It rained and stormed almost all afternoon and it was wonderful. It’s sprinkling now.

Soccer Camp Ends!

Zoe’s finished with soccer…I believe for good. Did she have fun? Yes. But by Thursday she’d had enough of all that running. By today she was in tears ready to be done. Yep, the princess is not going to be playing soccer. We’ve talked with her and she wants to either do ballet next year or a theater ensemble group (which would be for one semester). Of course, we’re not surprised. She was pretty good and when she wanted to she could really go after the ball…but most of the time she didn’t want to. She would have rather just visited with the friends she had made (and of course she made many).

Parents versus kids! Tied 2-2.

Any guesses as to who really enjoyed soccer camp??

Yep, he may be small but he sure does love any kind of sport. He actually did some warm up with them this week and Ace joined in toward the end of the week. They both really enjoyed it but Liam loves sports and it was really evident this week. I know he is going to be so excited when he can actually get out there and play.

Modest Swimsuit Update and Others…

Well, I didn’t have to buy an expensive swimsuit online! Yippee! Instead I settled for one that Mark really liked from Kohl’s. Croft & Barrow make some nice modest swimsuits and I was really excited about that…however, their swimsuits fit smaller than most and I had to go up a size…didn’t like that. Right now, the Croft & Barrow sets are on sale for 55% off…so, if you are looking for a modest, decent swimsuit…there ya go. I actually found two that I liked and looked good and Mark chose from them. I tend to over scrutinize my body, so I was glad Mark was there to pick what he thought looked best. The downside to those swimsuits is that if you’re one size on top and another on bottom, you’re out of luck…but Kohl’s also had several separates that you could piece together to make a complete set and still come out about $20 cheaper than one of the online stores. So, for now, this swimsuit will work and I’ll save up for next year when I can be in a smaller size and get a pretty modest suit from one of the stores mentioned in an earlier post.

On my new nephews note (and I don’t want to post much since I know several family members/friends read my blog and theirs), they are home and apparently doing well…from our latest report (I haven’t talked to Mark to get the up to date). Thank you for your continued prayers for them. Still not posting names or anything until I get the okay from B&B.

Sniff…Sniff…

It looks like Josiah is sticking with his brothers and sister in weaning himself. We’re really laid back about how our kids nurse. I’ve think I’ve mentioned before how I nurse on demand and that they have all fallen into a great little routine/schedule…on their own minus the tears and hassle of following a book. So, the same is true for the ending of their nursing. They’ve all just gradually drop nursings about every month. One at a time. I watch to see if he’s interested around the time I usually nurse…if not, we don’t worry about it and he just eats his meal with us. He was nursing three times a day and quickly dropped his late afternoon nursing last month. I thought that with the way he had his early morning nursing and bedtime nursing that we would be doing this for at least three or more months.

I was excitedly thinking that! I’m not the mom who just nurses because I feel I have to. I love spending that quiet time with my babies and feeling them close to me. Very bonding and very beautiful the way God has equipped me to be able to feed them.

Well, yesterday he didn’t get up until 6:30 (in the morning) to nurse. And today he didn’t wake up until his regular time (between 7 and 7:30) and didn’t want anything to do with nursing.

I’m sad and a bit surprised. This is the first time I’ve had a child almost weaned and not been expecting another one. It’s kind of nice but still sad that my baby is getting bigger and instead of worrying about him getting enough milk, now I have to worry about whether he is going to find the electrical outlet!

Modesty Battles…or Trying to Find a Swimsuit that Doesn’t Show…

…my you know whats! Anyway, this post is for the girls so if there are any guys who read…just ignore.

I’m on the hunt for another swimsuit that will cover my areas…particularly upper body and my mummy tummy…that I still have…after almost a whole year…yeah, I know! Being picky, I would also like one that covers the stretch marks on my upper legs…yeah, I know not everyone gets them, but I do.

See, here’s the deal. I have a daughter and with her has come the realization that I am created in God’s image and that He would prefer for me to be covered and not allow anyone to sin. That does not mean, to me, that I should walk around covered from head to toe…it does mean, for me, that my chest and rear should not be sticking out. However, finding clothes like that is so hard. I’m learning, slowly, to layer (I feel like I’m going to look like a doof if I do it wrong…and believe me I can). I’m hoping that I can set a good example for Zoe (and for the boys and what they are looking for in a mate).

Back to the swimsuit ordeal. I love the Land’s End Swim Minis…they cover and have cute skirts and they look nice on. The cost, however, I don’t like. Here’s the deal with Land’s End, though…. Check out their overstocks. About three years ago when I was lucky enough not to need a maternity swimsuit (how rare does that happen), I found a skirted swimsuit (I believe it was a Swim Mini) in their outlet/overstock for under $25! No joke. And it still looks great.

So, I have one nice, stylish, cute swimsuit but I’m in need of another because we are planning on going swimming multiple times a week and wearing a wet swimsuit over and over just does not sound appealing…or healthy.

I struck out Saturday as I went to a couple of stores (read–I was in tears because I couldn’t find one that fit or covered). I plan on going to a few more this weekend and if I don’t find any, I’ll look at purchasing one from one of these websites (for anyone else on a never ending, unsuccessful swimsuit search here’s my list):
Land’s End (again…overstocked/on sale swim minis!)
Modbe (these are really pricey, but since I can wear the same swimsuits every year, the price is worth it for modesty and durability and will pay for itself in two years)
Diviine Modesty (about the same price as Modbe…these are both great because you can buy skirts to match and mix and match…meaning multiple purchases over the years gives you a nice variety…I also love how long these tops are…and the fabrics are really cute…they have girls swimsuits for $39 which is not bad)
Lime Ricki Swimwear (I stumbled on this site from google and like the fun fabrics and options of skirts…these are also the cheapest. I’m a little leery because the bottoms look a little low waisted…meaning my mummy tummy would stick out or be bumpy. I favor a high waisted bottom to help suck in my stretched belly…yeah, I know it’s gross but I’m trying to honest here)

And there is my modest swimwear list. I know there are several others, but the styles seem a bit to the extreme and outdated to me…These all have cute and what, in my opinion is stylish (which isn’t saying much, I know dear friends) swimsuits.

Soccer Camp Day One

Yes, yes, soccer camp has finally arrived. I actually made it to the field on time. Zoe picked out her pink on pink on pink outfit for today! I even got her hair french braided on both sides. And it stayed! I don’t know hardly anything about soccer, but isn’t she cute???

She seemed to enjoy it. She quickly warmed up to the female coach and followed her everywhere. And since she’s a social butterfly, she’s met a few girls who are also at camp and seemed to not really care when we headed out to run some errands. I wanted to exercise but Ace looks as if he’s getting a cold, so I’m waiting until maybe tomorrow or so.

After camp, we headed to the pool…and I forgot the towels…oh well…the car seats are all washed down with chlorine now!

Announcing…

our two new nephews! Yep, that’s right…that brings the total of grands for Papa and Grandmere to three sweet princesses and seven little knights!

Aunt B was able to deliver without a c-section. Uncle B delivered the babies with the doctor assisting! Babies and mom are doing great. We received a text about 12 that their sugar levels needed to go up. Not sure if that was before or after we talked to Papa but Papa had told us that they were not in NICU!

I’m not going to give names until I can get the correct spellings etc…no pictures yet either…cuz we don’t have any…hello, people…we live like seven hours away 🙂

Thanks to everyone for your prayers. Oh, here’s their weights: 4 lbs 14 oz (almost made it to five) and 6 lbs 2 oz.

Please continue to pray for them, that they continue to grow and are healthy until they are allowed to go home.
