Josiah’s Seven Months

Ugghhh, I can’t believe how old he’s getting so fast. Time has truly flown by with him. Anyway, no stats this month. Just a couple of pictures. He celebrated month number seven by sitting up by himself for more than 2 seconds! He loves to eat, snuggle with mama, and laugh at big sis and big brothers.
This is Josiah’s “girlfriend.” She was born just five days after Josiah (and on Mark’s birthday). Lest you think Josiah is a giant, please note that his friend was actually 4 pounds at birth (she was a month early).

Funny things that happened when we went out to eat tonight at Stevi B’s (I know it’s not fancy food but it’s decent and cheap!).

Liam dropped a piece of pizza on the floor.
“Uh oh,” he says, “‘unny, come ‘ere.” Translation: Liam was calling for Sunny to come and eat her food…ahhh, family secrets revealed. We use our dog for a vacuum cleaner!

Ace thought that cherry dessert pizza would taste good in ranch dressing. He liked it, I gagged.

After we ate, they each got a $1 to play games in the very little arcade. Zoe played the race car game all by herself for the first time and got last place. Mark played and Zoe was watching him. He placed 3rd. Zoe’s comment: “Wow! Daddy you only got 3. I beat you. I got more than you!”

Ahhh, my life. Not a lot of comments on my hands being full but one mom stopped and asked me what I would recommend baby equipment wise. She was expecting her second and her first one was 9 years old. “Well, ma’am, if you would just read my blog…” I actually gave her some musts and then she made a comment about how well I was doing with them. They didn’t see me snap at them when we got to the restaurant.

Meet Freddie the Fish (Beta, that is)!

See, you all thought I was pregnant again…hehehe…get your math straight. My kids are 17 to 19 months apart, so it’s when they’re 8 to 10 months old that I get pregnant. I still got another month.

This week we are studying fish. We took a trip to a local fish store to learn about the different kind of fish and being the insane woman I am, got a Beta fish. We figured if we could keep this one alive, then we’ll look at getting some “real” fish in a “real” aquarium. Looks like Liam’s lovin’ it to death! Poor fishy.

Anyway, he seems really bored but when I went to check on him tonight he seemed to perk up when I looked at him. Can’t believe I was talking to a fish. I’ve lost my mind!

And another thing, why do they keep poisonous fish in an OPEN tank toddler level! Eeek! Luckily, Liam had already stuck his hand in an open tank on the other side so I had a firm grip on it and I also yelled at Zoe and Ace to stay away.

Neat Photography and Oh No What Happened to the Moon

The following was done with our rinky dink digital camera and my very smart engineering husband who figured out how to do this…I just played with the sparklers!

This is supposed to be a heart, but the camera got started a second late and our kids ran out of sparklers…no fair!

When we talked about planets a couple of weeks ago, we (mainly I) inflated all the planets we had received as gifts and we (mainly Mark) hung them up in our playroom/schoolroom/office area). Before we hung them up, though, we had to have a little fun with them.

Here’s Liam burning Ace up with the Sun!!! At least Ace is happy about it.

Josiah, the sleeper, likes the taste of the moon better. I guess it really is made of cheese.

It’s late, I’m extremely tired (Josiah no sleep this morning or late this afternoon), I’m goofy, and we’ve got MOPS tomorrow. More later.

Reality

I learned yesterday afternoon that Rick Burgess from Rick and Bubba (a radio show) lost his 2 year old son due to a drowning accident. Uggghhh. This has just bothered me and I can’t get it out of my mind. I guess when I know of children who have passed recently, it was because of a disease, almost expected. But this, totally unexpected and it brings home the reality that we are only promised heaven (if we believe in Christ) and not tomorrow. It also reminds me how precious time with our children is…so hug your kids some more today and show them Christ’s love every moment!

And please pray for Rick and Sherri Burgess and all those parents who have empty arms because their children are with Jesus.

Cute Kids

When Liam goes to put on his knight helmet and grabs his sword and shield he says, “Nice, mama, nice.” I believe he’s trying to say knight. Of course, when I told him to say it to daddy yesterday he said, “Knight.”

Josiah is trying to move around on the floor. However, he keeps going backwards and when he goes back a few times he realizes he’s getting farther away and starts fussing.

I got all the pictures scrapbooked that I had and I’ve ordered more. I’m trying to finish up last year and get Josiah’s baby book caught up. Then I can keep up with this year and try to finish 2006. Phew!!! One day I’ll enjoy my hobby again.

Zoe the Model

Apparently, Zoe’s ballet teacher thought she would be good to photograph for an ad for the ballet company. We received word about this today from the co-director. I’m excited for Zoe. The teachers had to choose one girl from each class to participate and Zoe was one of the ones chosen. She’ll be photographed on Friday!

I just realized I haven’t posted since Thursday. Sorry!

Not much new going on. I got to work out on Friday and Saturday and have paid for it today. I’m trying out more of the weight type machines and my muscles are achy!

Dad’s doing great. He’s really glad to be home.

Oh, some reviews:

Go Fish! has a new album out called Snazzy. It’s AWESOME! For those that have never heard of Go Fish! It’s a Christian group…primarily accapella sounds. They are a children’s group now but in their earlier years they did contemporary Christian. Their motto is “music that won’t drive your parents bonkers!” and they’re right! This is a great album with lots of fun songs but also some good Christian ones. They have this really cute one called “The Bible Book Bop” that goes through all the books of the Bible in a doowop sound. And my absolute favorite is the Mom song. Just some lyrics, “…You’re the boss, the driver, the ultimate survivor, a doctor, a cooker, your man thinks your a looker, if you work all day and you never get paid your a mom” Every mom should hear that one.

And, we saw the Pirates who don’t do Anything this past week. Here’s the kids review:

It was waaaayyyy better than Ratatouille (a movie they just recently saw).

We liked it too. It was nice to take them to a movie where we didn’t have to worry about the language, or sexual overtones. A good wholesome film about vegetables as “pirates” The bad guy was a master in the “mechanical arts.” Very funny! For good clean fun, I would recommend this one.

That’s all. I gotta get ready for my all day scrapbooking day (part of my Christmas present) tomorrow.

Granddaddy Update-Thursday

Dad is home! He was discharged this morning. They are so glad to be home. The fluid in his lungs is gone. He’s up and moving. He still does not have a lot of energy and will have to learn to be patient with that.

We are still praying that he will not have any depression like his dad had when he had open heart surgery. Please pray for my parents as they adjust to a different eating lifestyle.

It’s Raining! It’s Snowing!

We went to church as usual this evening for supper and towards the end of supper, we were informed it was snowing outside. I got the kids coats on quickly and ushered them outside to see the snow. Of course, it didn’t really stick and the only real thing that accumulated was the ice but we got to see it. And we had a quick ice ball fight when daddy brought the car around when it was time to leave. It was sleeting/freezing raining when we left church.

Zoe’s reaction: Oh wow! It’s snowing. I’m going to catch it on my tongue. (tilts head back and tries to stick out tongue) Ow! Snow got in my eye!

Ace’s reaction: Snow! Snow! Snow! (he also tried to catch it with his tongue but didn’t tilt his head back and had more success).

Liam’s reaction: Butball! (seeing some boys playing football on the front lawn…didn’t even notice the snow)

Josiah had no comment but he loved hearing the freezing rain hit the leaves and ground and had a big grin from that!
