Shoes

I just can’t get over how fast Zoe is growing up. Today we were getting ready for the gym and she came up to me with her shoes tied!!! She had done it all by herself. They were loose but they were tied none the less. Then she launched into a critique of her work and informed me of all the ways it was and was not done right…first born!

Pumpkin Carvin’ Time

Monday we got around to carving our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Yes, we got pumpkins for each person in the family. We all picked out what kind of face we wanted to put on the pumpkin. Mark chose goofy. I chose a sleepy one (that’s how I was feeling on Monday). Zoe chose a cat. Ace wanted a mean face (not sure why). And we chose a basic triangle/square face for Liam. Josiah’s didn’t get carved on account of it was too small for us to do. But I painted a face on Josiah’s with markers.

Josiah’s Four Months

Josiah had his 4 month check up on the 29th. Here’s his stats:

16 lbs. 14 oz. (85%)
27 3/4 inches tall (79.7%)
17 1/2 inches head (94%)

Maybe a big head means big brains!!! Just like his daddy. Anyway, he was doing good. She upped his reflux medicine based on his weight and since he is still spitting up she didn’t think it was a good idea to discontinue it until the spit up slows down. He averages about two to three spit ups a day…or more depending on what’s going on and what I’ve eaten. Not much else to report. He laughed a lot at Dr. B and barely cried through his shots. Such a brave baby!

Phew!

I know I’ve been behind on posting anything lately. We’ve been swamped…our activities included the following:

Thursday: MOPS/doctor for Josiah/MOPS and then out to a MOPS get together that evening
Friday: corn maze/clean house
Saturday (early): Travel to Columbia to get pictures made. Yeah, I know it’s far from our house but they really do the best job and our kids looked adorable! I unfortunately, had something wrong with my eye so I look half drugged in all the pictures. But what are you going to do!
Sunday: up early again for church/fall festival.

Upcoming this week:
Tuesday: parents day at ballet including dressing up and candy/a Trick or Treat charity event that MOPS will be a part of including dressing up and lots of candy
Wednesday: really, really Halloween including dressing up and lots of candy

Yes, I know it’s lots of candy but this is our candy stash for the whole year and will/should last that long.

Josiah had his check up today for 4 months and I’ll post that info with pictures later tonight. Zoe finished up speech today and we are so excited. We plan on celebrating tomorrow with a special out to eat breakfast…her choice.

Enjoy your precious ones today and this week. I can’t wait to let everyone know what the kids are going to be for Halloween. If you haven’t voted yet, get to it…just two more days left.

Corn Maze

We traveled way out (about 45 minutes) on Friday for a “field trip” to a Christian camp that has a corn maze set up. We went with two other family friends and their children. It was completely free and way worth it. The corn maze had scripture verses at certain places. We had to complete a puzzle as we went through the maze using the verses to get the message. Now, Mark did it and I was the picture taker/baby holder so I’m not sure what the message was. After the maze we petted and fed a llama, sheep, goats, and a sweet donkey. And we ran from the emus that looked like they wanted to peck our eyes out. Then to have snocones and popcorn and on a hayride to see the nativity, cross, and the replica of the tomb where Jesus’ body was laid briefly.

Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weekends ago (yeah, I know I’m behind on picture), we went to the Pumpkin Patch at a local church and picked out pumpkins. The plan is to carve them tonight (since Halloween is on Wednesday). Wish us luck. Mark has five pumpkins to carve. Josiah’s is too small to carve. They all had fun. Zoe took the longest to pick out a pumpkin. Liam just loved picking them up.

It’s that time of year

Josiah woke up this morning with a fever. He started with congestion last night and then it ballooned into a fever. Because I couldn’t remember when the hospitalization cut off was, I took him in to see Dr. B. She said it’s 2 months and under for fevers…for future reference for me.

His temp was down by the time we got to the office and he’s acting great. Just very congested but no wheezing and she felt that it wasn’t RSV because it’s a little early for that. So, we’ll give it the standard 2 weeks and if he’s not better or gets worse then we’ll take him back in.

Liam’s had the runny nose since Sunday and she did a quick check of his ears but he was all clear.

Lots of trusting in God today. Ace was 4 weeks old when he was hospitalized with a fever and it turned out to be viral meningitis. So, my nerves were on edge and I was really praying. I felt much better when Josiah’s temp went down on its own.

Playing Catchup

Car: is back and running good. We are thanking God for a speedy fix and for the cost not being very much. We got it back yesterday evening.

Zoe: I will meet with her speech teacher on Monday to dismiss her! She’s still working on the ‘th’ sound, but that is a later developing sound anyway.

Liam: Paci removal has not been fun and prayers in that arena are much appreciated. Tuesday he was up and fussing at 4 a.m. He’s also got a cold on top of that.

Josiah: Doing good…still working on that sleep and he’ll be thrown off tomorrow with MOPS.

Ace: is still goofy. My sweet guy wanted some cuddles today but he kept petting me. I’m not a touchy person so I got a little aggravated and had to tell him I’m not his pet a couple of times.

And the bee behavior chart. Sometimes we’re doing good…and other days not so good. Today was a not so good day and they both had only 2 bees left at the end of the day.

Like Father, Like Daughter

Mark is not a big fan of throwing things away. This includes socks, underwear and shirts that have holes in them. I’m not talking little hole either…great big giant holes where your whole foot is sticking out. He sees no point in throwing them away until they are simply a thread.

Well, this weekend as we were getting ready to leave the house, I was helping Zoe with her shoes. I noticed she had a pretty good sized hole in her socks and pointed it out to her.

“But mommy, no one will see it. ” she replied.

Like father, like daughter!
