Please Pray!!

Hey all my friends and family…and people who just lurk on my blog. I have a huge prayer request.

My best friend and her husband (along with my pediatrician and others!) are on a mission trip to Honduras right now. If you get or watch the weather channel, then you know that they are also in the path of Hurricane Felix. They will be moving to a little bit safer area tomorrow morning and they were unable to get a flight out today or tomorrow due to so many people leaving. Please pray not only for their safety during the storm but also for their work after and that they will be able to get home when they were scheduled to come home.

God is working where they are now and they saw about 100 people accept Christ today!

Josiah’s Check Up & Cute Diaper Pics

Josiah’s modeling the grasshopper bumgenius 2.0 one size diaper! Isn’t his little bum cute! For more information about these precious awesome cloth diapers, click here. I will put up a post soon about why we use cloth and how much I love them! Especially these diapers!

Josiah had his 2 month check up today and things are looking good!
Here are his stats:
14 lbs 3 oz (97%)
25 inches long (97%)
16 1/2 inches head (90%)

He likes his momma’s milk!! All else checked out really good. He got four shots but that’s the most he’ll have to get at once. I know not everyone feels led to get the shots, but we do.

I asked her to check out his eyes because for awhile he would not focus on our face, which anyone with a baby knows that what they are supposed to be able to focus on. I’ve noticed in the past couple of weeks, he’s gotten better at focusing on us but still only does it about half the time. And tracking an object (or following an object or us) has been accomplished about 50% of the time as well. That has improved because he wasn’t doing it at all. She noticed what I was talking about but did note that he could track just didn’t stay focused for long. I told her that sometimes when we’re talking to him he looks past us or above us and that’s with no distractions. She said some babies are slow to develop their eye coordination and for now we are going to watch it and if it doesn’t improve, then we’ll see an eye doctor. She didn’t note any cataracts or other visible eye impairments. So pray with us please. My dad has really bad eyesight and I want to make sure if Josiah has inherited it that we catch it earlier than when my dad’s was caught.

Ace’s Check Up

Ace had his 3 year check up and here are his stats:
38 1/2 lbs (97%)
38 inches (60%)

He’s grown a little bit taller which is great and his weight has gone back up from last year. Dr. B had a little “talk” with him about his attitude with us and gave us several ways to correct it. He was very polite and answered all his questions. He tried to compromise with her on eating his veggies.

She asked him if he ate his vegetables, and meat, and fruit.

“I eat my meat but I don’t like vegetables,” he said. She told him before he could have more meat he had to eat some bites of veggies and he said just one bite…she told him he had to eat at least two and he said one. Needless to say, they arrived at a stalemate. I, however, informed her that we ask that if they want more of something they have to eat everything on their plate. I just thought about the fact that Ace will now eat corn on the cob…I wonder if he knows that’s a vegetable?!

Liam News

He flooded the kitchen again…not the kitchen actually, it was the dining area but since we have an eat in kitchen, it was the kitchen, just a different part. He’s rediscovered the cat/dog water bowl and decided it would be fun to play in it. While I was on the phone with Mark in the playroom, he proceeded to not only drench himself but the whole floor and to carry small bits of Sunny’s (our dog) food from her bowl to the water bowl. Poor Sunny looked on in sheer agony! Since listening to how I should “delight” in my children, I didn’t yell. I did realize he was doing what he always does…exploring. However, since he kept going back to it, he had to be disciplined because we had told him no and I had told him several times after the flooding that we didn’t play with the dog water. At least I didn’t loose my cool!

Like Father, Like Son

That’s Liam in Zoe’s doll sling and Mark in one of my slings with Josiah! Liam looks like he’s fussing but he’s really saying, “Cheese!” and in that weird smile phase. He picked up the sling this morning saying, “Baby, baby” and wanted help putting the baby in it and then walked around with the baby for awhile! Very cute.

WOW!

Somehow and for some reason, Josh McDowell, came to speak at our church. If you don’t know who Josh McDowell is, he is a great Christian speaker and author. His main focus is on teenagers and he’s written several books to help Christians focus on the basics of our belief and mainly on the truth!

He spoke Sunday morning and Sunday evening to a packed house. I only got to hear the morning message because Josiah was a little fussy and there were 10 babies in the nursery so I stayed back there to help. It was really good.

His main focus Sunday morning was on the importance of fathers in the lives of children. And the importance of loving and caring for our children. He threw out a ton of statistics about how having a caring/loving father effects children and how a non-loving father steers children away from Christ.

It was great to hear and also wonderful to reflect on how loving and caring a father Mark is. He’s always there for the kids and though our house may need 100 things done, he puts them third (God, me and then them). He’ll put aside all of his “chores” till after they’re in bed to play and allow them to “pile on” him. He’s never once complained about changing a diaper, slinging a baby (wearing them), sleeping in a rocker with a fussy one, having to leave work to go to the hospital with them…none of that. I am so blessed that my children have a father who strives to reflect the love of our Heavenly Father.

I love ya, babe!

Speech

Zoe had her first day of speech today. They took a break over the summer. Her speech therapist could not believe how well Zoe was talking! I was very excited. She went ahead and rechecked her and she’s improved in all but a couple of areas. Her teacher wants to work with her a little more to clear up those other sounds, such as “ch” and “th.” She asked Zoe how school was going. Zoe said she liked her workbooks but not the time book (she’s peeked ahead to what she’s doing this week and is scared). She also asked Zoe if she was in prek, kindergarten, or first. Zoe said first grade! Mrs. H about flipped out and so she asked me after Zoe was finished. I told her that she was in pre-k but working a kindergarten track. She commented several times on how smart Zoe is. I’m pretty bias, but I agree!
