Pictures from our Marriage Retreat

Okay, so it was a marriage retreat and so we didn’t take any pictures! We were too busy enjoying being married and without the kids for a little bit of time. It was a wonderful time for us to be able to get away and enjoy each other. Here are two pictures from the last day of our trip.

Mark, Abbie, & Josiah…so we didn’t go without all the kids 🙂 This is my belly picture for the site.

Updates

Sorry I haven’t updated in awhile. It’s been very crazy here. I’ll try and get pictures from February (not a lot) up by the en do fthe week.

Here is a quick update on what’s been going on:

February 16th-18th: Mark and I disappeared for the weekend to Hilton Head to a marriage retreat…yummy fun time while the kids played and played with their grandparents. I got some great deals on clothes for all of us at the outlets, too! And I found a maternity swimsuit that did not try to show off too much…more on that later!
February 18th-20th: Ace proceeded to pitch a three day fit that consisted of screams and cries every time we said anything to him.
February 21st: Mark took off with two staff members from WABC to Creative Church Conference in Dallas, TX. He had two days saturated in leadership training and “thinking outside the box” when it comes to worship/tech stuff. Needless to say he loved it.
February 23rd: I headed alone to my parents home where Liam, within minutes of being there, fell out of a chair (getting a bruise above his eye), did a belly flop off of the slide (busting his bottom lip), falling off the playfort steps (no visible bruising there), and falling and hitting his cheek on a chair (leaving a little strawberry mark on his cheek). Picked up Mark from the airport that night and we stayed up talking until about midnight!
February 24th: Headed home trying to get our house in order to sign papers for our construction loan…only to find out it was a no go because a notary couldn’t be found.
February 25th: What a great day to worship God! We had no illnesses and could all go to church as a family. Next Sunday is the big day that WABC will be going to 2 services! I’m helping in the nursery area with registery and greeting new people! Going to be a very busy day. Noticed Liam’s eyes were a little gunky and red but dismissed it that they were just irritated from the weekends “mis” adventures!
Feburayr 26th: MOPS Day! I love craft day at our MOPS meetings, I really get to visit and get to know the moms in our group. So much fun. Liam’s eyes look a little worse (more red and more green stuff oozing out) after we go out to lunch with Miss Tracy. I call the doctor but she was full for the afternoon and she was at the after hours clinic so we wait. Find out my uncle passed away and begin making plans to take a trip to Alabama for the funeral on Wednesday. Take Liam in when Mark gets home. She was VERY busy…I hated bringing him in for such a minor thing, but I knew I would not have time tomorrow with everything going on. He has adnovirus (not sure that’s spelled right) in which pink eye can be one of the symptoms. He also had an ear infection (which Mom and I noticed he was playing with his ear a lot). So, he’s on drops twice a day for the eyes, and an oral antibiotic for his little ear. First big antibiotic illness besides a little sinusitis a looong while ago.

Zoe’s speech update: You should hear this girl talk now. Several sounds are coming out and she is learning to self correct! I am praying we’ll be done with speech by the end of May. My best friend said she noticed Zoe sounded so much clearer!

House construction update: We’re signing the papers today for our loan. Supposed to be meeting with Mr. Bill, the contractor, to go over floor plans. We have a Painting Party scheduled for March 10th to paint the boys’ room, Zoe’s room and Zoe’s bathroom. We were going to swap kids rooms but Mark measured the rooms and was right in that the boys have a bigger room. We’re painting Zoe’s room so she can feel important and to tone down the BRIGHT pink that is on there now. I’ll try and get pictures this week of the rooms so we can properly chronicle our progress on this exciting and crazy adventure.

Oh yea, while getting ready to leave for my parents on Friday, I lost my check card that was subsequently (in all probability) stolen. After panicking and yelling at my cell phone’s battery, I was able to cancel it and go through all those fun steps! Gotta love being pregnant and having fried brains.

Baby Peanut is…

a boy!!! Josiah Britt let us know right away that he was on the way. He is healthy and growing good. He measured about 20 weeks give or take a week. He was asleep even after drinking caffeine but the tech was able to wake him up. We are praising God that He has chosen us to raise not one, or two, but three little boys for His glory! We are a little overwhelmed that we will have three boys but any amount of children no matter what gender is a great responsiblity as well as a gift. So, Zoe will get to be the little princess for a while longer until God chooses to bless us with a little girl through adoption (we pray).

Here’s his little boy part picture to verify for everyone. We definitely didn’t see any of the “lines’ that are typical of a girl on the ultrasound.

Sweet little Josiah just a snoozing.
His pretty little foot.

Most everyone knows that Zoe was praying for a baby sister. I was worried about her reaction but she was just thrilled to be able to see the baby on the screen. She was wide eyed and grinning the whole time. She is thrilled about being able to swap rooms now (look for an invite to our painting party soon!). She was also thrilled to be able to see such a sweet miracle. She loved looking at his feet and hands. Here are a few of her comments:
“He’s so pretty!”
“I can’t believe he’s so small.”
“Can I see his feet again!?”

Thank you for praying that he was healthy. He is a true blessing from God. Please continue to pray for a continued healthy pregnancy and delivery!

Oh yeah, Josiah’s name:
Josiah was a king. His name means “God will save” or “”fire of the Lord.” You can read about him in 2 Kings 21 through23. Here is a little of what the Bible says about him:

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. His mother’s name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah; she was from Bozkath. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. 2 Kings 22:1-2

Britt is my maiden name and a way for us to carry on the Britt name.

Sick Kids Update

Everyone is well! Except for runny noses from me (Abbie), Liam, Ace, and Zoe…but we are on the healing side of things and we should be all better in a few days. I’m so excited that we can just go to church tonight!!!

I’ll post tomorrow about Baby Peanut! Please pray that the baby is healthy and that we are able to see whether the baby is a boy or girl!

Feelings

This morning is the first time I’ve felt Baby Peanut move with my hand! He/she just had a party when we woke up, so I laid in bed and enjoyed the (for now) soft kicking. Very sweet! He/she is really low down but I did feel a few jabs high up. This baby is kicking on the left side whereas the other ones kicked me on the right…very different.

One more week until we have our ultrasound! Have you made a guess as to what the baby is?????

Phew…we made it!

Pictures are all done. He wound up taking the storm windows off and climbing up on a ladder to peer in through it and take pictures. It’ll be interesting to see the result. And I have to say, I have the cleanest set of plastic dishes anywhere! Zoe and Ace were great. I think they had fun and I added to the fun by promising they could have ice cream after supper! Normally, I’m not a big fan of bribes, but when they are doing something so out of the ordinary a treat is in order…especially when we have a sick one.

By the way, Ibuprofren is my friend when I need a hyper, happy sick Zoe!

The Bug Revisited…

I thought we were over it and headed for just plain colds with Zoe and Ace…Zoe woke up with a fever this morning! Yuk! Ace has started the coughing and will be in fever mode in a few days as well, I at least, am anticipating. I wish they would all get it at the same time. But alas! Life is not catered to my wishes.

On the flip side, Mark and I got the main part of the house cleaned…the kitchen…and I’ll be dosing Zoe before picture time to help with her fever. She may not feel like pictures and that will be fine, but I know she would love to have her picture in the paper.

Agggghhhhh!!!

Okay, well a couple of months ago, a reporter for one of our parent magazines here came by a MOPS meeting and did an article on our MOPS group! She was a great reporter and so sweet and expecting her third little one with a grade schooler and toddler already. She called a couple of weeks ago and asked if I or if I knew of anyone that could give her some information on kitchen organization. She wanted input from a mom with little ones running around. So, I just talked to her about how we ran our kitchen and cleaned, etc. I had just cleaned out/reorganized my cabinets so we talked about that. I also talked to her about how I work with the kids and get them to pitch in and help. We talked about their chores, etc. Then I left her with two names of people who I thought she would like to talk with (one is a MOPS mom of 10 with one on the way). I don’t think she contacted my friends but she called today to give me a head’s up that a reporter was coming out from Augusta Family Magazine to take pictures of me in my kitchen with my kids…do you know what that means??!!! I HAVE TO CLEAN MY HOUSE!!! That would not be a big deal and ordinarily it would be presentable clean but with me being sick last week and dealing with Liam and Zoe being sick, I haven’t done a lick of cleaning…yucky house. I have until one tomorrow afternoon to get the house, especially the kitchen clean as a whistle! Wish me luck. I’ll post the article as soon as it comes out (in March, I think).

Ace-ology…through the eyes of the child!

For the kids weekly memory verses, we’ve been using her Awana verses. They’ve worked for us. On non-Awana weeks we work with verses from an extra credit Awana book called Character Builders. We mainly focus on Zoe learning the verses, but Ace is able to learn them as well so we are also working with him. We’ve found the best time to say our verses is around the table during mealtime. This assures a good three times a day saying verses and Zoe can usually memorize a verse in about three days due to this repitition. Okay, so on to the funny…

This week’s verse is John 14:2: In my Father’s house, are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I’m going up there now to prepare a place for you.

So, Ace is reciting the verse, “In my Fader’s house, are many rooms…it’s a big big place”

I had to crack a grin! So cute and so true! It’s a big, big place with room for all of us if we just ask Jesus into our hearts 🙂

Actually, I think he is combining two songs that we enjoy (one they just heard this week), Rich Mullins’ “That where I am…” and Audio Adrenaline’s “Big House!”

The Bug

It started with me this time. I got bad sick on Friday. Achy, sore throat, headache, congestion, then a fever in the afternoon. By Saturday, I was a little better and Mark started feeling bad. He can take Motrin, so he stayed medicated on Saturdy and Sunday. Saturday night, Liam started with a nasty cough and I announced he was not going to church…I just knew he had it. Sure enough, Sunday late morning, he started running a fever…and he’s still running a fever. Zoe woke up yesterday morning about 5:30 with the nasty cough. Her temp is staying down for now. I’m anticipating it going up before the afternoon which will mean no speech, no ballet, etc. for the week. We’ll see.

So far, Ace is the most healthy and has had no problems with being sick. I’m much, much better. My throat is barely hurting. Mark is getting better. His voice has gotten a little rough with it. I asked him last night how long he’d been smoking!

Stay tuned to our sickly tale!
