Ceili Rain’s One Month Old!

Ceili Rain and I had a talk about how we’d celebrate her one month birthday. She said it wasn’t about her but about Jesus and so she wanted to celebrate on Easter. It was a great day worshipping the risen Jesus and spending time with family. Good choice sweet girl! After worship, we took her home and took pictures under my only fully blooming azalea bush…her request.

She’s now smiling and started that little trick on Thursday. Getting her to do it more than two or three times is not happening right now so pictures will probably come later in the month.

“Oh bother! Why am I here on the ground.”

Slowly creeping…sneaking…here comes a big brother!

No Whining

After the umpteenth potty trip avoiding bedtime and actually managing to use the bathroom each time, Mark was worn out with Liam.

Liam, however, was just getting warmed up. He was slowly getting dressed…very slowly getting dressed.

Mark leaned on the doorway and sighed a big sigh.

“Liam, please hurry up and get dressed.”

“I’m doing the best I can,” Liam responded. “But you keep whining!”

Our parenting is coming back at us already.

A Bunch of Characters

Zoe, Ace, and Liam played dress up this weekend and politely asked for a photo shoot! They positioned themselves and everything. Pretty impressive.

For those wondering, that is one of my old color guard (flag corp) uniforms…yeah, I kept them for this very purpose. I also have my old graduation robes.

I think the stained floor really fits with the scene of the sleeping princess…

And roaring dragon…pay no attention to the man in the back taking diapers to the washing machine.

Oh yeah, he’s tuff.

Brothers and Sisters

I make the kids sibling shirts for every birth. They’ve always been different. The only problem is that the iron on transfers usually start flaking after one wash. Anyways, I wanted to get a picture of their shirts before they flaked off completely or Ceili Rain outgrew hers. By the way, whoever is googling Ceili Rain thanks for visiting, I know this is not what you’re looking for…we like the band too, though.

The good shot…

The not too good shot…

Ceili Rain so enjoyed this photo shoot.

Under the Big Top!

Welcome to the “Greatest Show on Earth!” No, not my house. Mark and I were able to take the kids to the circus last week. I have to say that even if the kids didn’t enjoy it, I sure did. The coolest thing was that before the show started they had a pre-show and we were able to go down to the ring and watch and participate with the performers. Very cool! We were also able to splurge and let them each pick out a souvenir. I was impressed with their choices…no big surprise, Liam wanted a sword. Ace actually picked out a clown nose and a program. Zoe got cotton candy that came with a clown hat and we picked up a dvd for Josiah (since they’ll all enjoy that and he didn’t really care). I do think the kids had a great time. And I actually got some decent pictures event hough the batteries were running down on the camera.

The dog trainer lady at the pre-show.

Silly Ace! He kept the nose on almost the entire time. It blinks too!

Liam’s sword and Dadyd with the boys. Don’t ya love his hat??

The motorcycle guys allowed the kids to sit on their bikes. They do that globe of death thingy that’s in the background, which is pretty amazing to watch!

Despite the look of horror on his face, he wanted to get on the bike (as a disclaimer: we don’t force our kids in to awkward picture taking, hence the reason you don’t see Santa and the kids on our site)

Dressing up as circus performers…some days it feels like we live in a circus!

For my sis…see daschunds can be trained (but apparently it’s very hard). They were so cute and she had a few very tiny ones.

And any guesses what Ceili Rain did during the entire performance (with a little break to eat)?

That’s our Sleeping Beauty.

Ceili Rain’s First Home Bath

After the first week, Ceili Rain’s hair was getting quite a bit “nappy” from sweet sister and her brothers petting it. So we opted for a bath the night before church.

The boys’ thought the dried up umbilical cord was a little “gross” and Ace told us it “freaked him out.”

Putting on a nightgown that Zoe wore.

Ceili Rain also kept in spirit with “the girls.” She peed on me. However, in being different than her sister, she did it after I washed her hair not the second the water hit it (which is what Zoe did). Good times! Good times!

I Forgot

Post-pardom forgetfulness has set in. Yesterday, I confess, I forgot to brush the two youngest boys teeth. I remembered when Liam woke up from his nap and his breath was beyond stank. Today, I almost forgot to eat lunch. I got the kids lunch fixed and sat down to feed Ceili Rain and started planning out the afternoon in my head. Fortunately, I did remember to grab something real quick.

On another note, Ceili Rain still has blue eyes. They are pretty darker blue like Zoe’s. Not the steely blue like Liam’s. If they continue, that will be four out of five children with blue eyes. Mark and I have brown eyes. So, those who are scientifically minded will know that statistically that is nearly impossible (I was going to put impossible but obviously it’s not). So, that makes our family genetic freaks! Oh yeah, we always have to be different.

Park Day

We met up with some friends a few weeks ago to play at the park. Ceili Rain (aka Sleeping Beauty) was asleep almost the whole time. The kids had fun. Mark was still off work, so I got to sit, relax and visit with my friends while the kids played and Mark took pictures.

Liam having some fun with S.

I love this picture of our friend K-bug. Not sure if that’s a look of terror or excitement.

Sliding fun.

Not quite sure what she’s doing with her headband here.

Two Week Check Up

Ceili Rain had her two week check up today. She’s doing great. Yesterday, for some reason, was a spit up day. Today, however, is not. Just looking out for signs of reflux but I really don’t see any right now.

I have been calling her Sleeping Beauty (as you’ll see in some of the posts this week) because she’s been sleeping so much. Now it appears that Sleeping Beauty has disappeared and my normal baby who doesn’t sleep very well unless in the sling has appeared. This is a very typical baby for me. And right now, I don’t mind it. She’s cuddled in the sling as I type this. And she looks so peaceful and content. All too soon she’ll be climbing out of my lap to go do something else.

Here’s her stats:

Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz (90%)
Height: 21 1/2 inches (90%)
Head: 14 1/2 inches (75%)

She loves her mama’s milk!
