Bad Idea…

It’s a bad idea to allow three children under the age of 6 to play with moon sand in the house. It doesn’t matter how hot it is, moon sand is an OUTSIDE toy!

Oh, I just heard it say on the commercial to “bring the fun of the beach indoors.” Yeah, right. Repeat with me, moon sand is NOT an indoor toy and does NOT clean up easily (especially when it sticks to legs and other body parts…just like real sand).

So, How are You Feeling???

We “broke the news” our newest baby to our Sunday school class and church friends in general yesterday. I was really shocked after being asked a couple of times how I was feeling. Especially after reading this article.

It was nice to be asked and I willingly shared.

And here, I’ll share too…the answer in short is, I’ve had better days.

In long, the nausea bug has hit pretty hard and it’s getting harder to keep food down. Cooking is appearing less appealing but I still have this strange craving for veggies and wouldn’t mind cooking them. When we first found out there wasn’t any nausea, but as the past couple of weeks have progressed it’s gotten more and more, from just a little bit here and there to pretty much all day now. I’m slowly sinking in to what I’d like to refer to as the “blah” days. I’m trying to take extra vitamin B and B Complex to combat the nausea but I’ve been a little erratic with it so I’m not sure if it will help much. In general, I don’t normally expel my stomach contents when pregnant. I just feel like I need to, typically all day. As a result, I usually don’t enjoy eating and turn my nose up at a lot of foods.

And, as guessed, I’m also extremely tired but can’t sleep much. I’m bummed because I just laid down with Ace and Liam and tried to take a nap but only got in about 15 minutes before spontaneously waking up. Hopefully, that will be enough energy to make it till tonight!

Are You God?

As we were leaving church today, we passed our family minster (missions minister and other things). Mark was holding Liam. He waved to us and we said, “Hi.”

Liam looked at him and asked, “Are you God?”

Bro. T just smiled and said a lot of people think that but definitely not. We all were laughing as we walked away. That reminds me of Ace’s comment about our pastor, L, when he was about that age. We were watching a video of Liam’s baby dedication time, and we asked Ace who that was standing up.

His reply, “God.”

Happy #4 to my Ace-Man!

Four years ago today, we were lovin’ on baby #2 to come into this world. Boy, has he been a blessing (but not without his challenges). We’ve been out of town visiting my parents yesterday and today and have just gotten back. He had a good celebration with them and because we had grandparents, Mark and I were able to take him out to breakfast which was a nice treat.

Ace is truly a gift from God as his middle name means. We treasure his silly faces, sweet spirit towards his baby brother and his occasional sweet spirit towards his other brother and sister. He also has such a way to make people laugh and smile. He loves to look at books as he had since he could crawl to the book shelf and pull them all down around him and flip through them. I look forward to seeing how God uses him in the future.

He told us his favorite part of the day was the cake, but I think he liked the presents too. He got a soccer ball that hasn’t left his arms. He doesn’t want to play with it outside because it might get dirty or wet.

He also declared as we were on our way home tonight, “I like being 4.” That’s good, because he has 364 more days of it.

Pictures hopefully will be up tomorrow.

More from Wednesday

Okay, so Wednesday was a busy day. Here’s the pics:

Zoe had this giant bubble maker thing down. I couldn’t do it, but she is so patient and was able to wait and work to make several huge bubbles. You’ll have to click on the pictures to see them.

One of our friends, T, watched the kids for us while we went to the appointment for C5 (okay, so it’s hard coming up with an in utero nickname for #5, sorry…I’m working on it). After we got back, we invited T and her new husband to supper and then some visiting (read torture time with the kids). Lots of fun. Here’s K with Liam.

This is why I have full bookshelves.

Josiah, the dinosaur…I mean, crocodile…I mean dragon. I don’t know but he sure is a cute one!
Yippee! He can definitely ham it up when he sees you have a camera in your hand.

Ehhh? My hand is turning green and furry!!

Yep, here’s another cute one!!

What Wednesday Looked Like…

Well, lets take a look back at Wednesday…for your entertainment, of course.

Wednesday was full of staying at home because of the pink eye bug running around. While talking to Mark in the afternoon, I heard Josiah crying in his room. Liam was back there with him, so I figured Liam must of taken a toy or ran over him or whatever. I got off the phone with Mark, disciplined Ace for not obeying and calmly started walking back to the bedroom.

On the way back there, Liam came to me and told me Josiah fell and hurt “his self.” I vaguely remember him saying something about a neck as I walked in the bedroom and found Josiah covered in blood. It was a lot of blood and more than I had ever seen from one of my kids. I started yelling at Liam to tell me what happened while I searched to find the source of the bleed. Experienced moms will tell you, the mouth bleeds the most and looks the worst but is usually not as bad as it looks. That’s where the blood was coming from. I rushed to the kitchen and began cleaning him up, all the while trying to find out from Liam what happened.

From what I gather, Josiah had tried to climb the bunk bed. That’s right, the bunk bed. Mark had him up there horsing around with his brothers (with spotting from Mark) the night before. I guess he wanted to do it again and thought he could climb up there by himself. He didn’t make it far…the blood was only on the first rung on the ladder, so I’m guessing that’s as far as he made it before he hit his mouth.

He’s fine, by the way, only bled for a little bit. He was even able to take his paci and a little ibuprofen to curb any pain from it. He split that little flap of skin on the upper lip that connects the lip tissue to the gum. I’m guessing it would have to of been cut eventually anyway! Yeah, I know it sounds gross. He’s had no problems and bleeding since. I hate mouth bleeds!

And for a finale! Liam cleaned up in his room while I read to Zoe and Ace. We had waited long enough and he still wasn’t done, so I had to start the reading which got him motivated to clean up. However, half way into a story, I realized it had gotten quiet back there so I needed to check on him.

He met me at my bedroom door (not his) and showed me his hands. Covered in make up foundation. As I go to clean him, I notice that there is foundation all over the floor and he also points out that it’s on his face and on his tummy. Cleaned up, disciplined, and under threat never to touch mommy’s make up again, we go to read stories!

And then I was off to my doctor’s appointment, which was uneventful and funny and fun…how many people can actually say they have fun at their ob appointments?! Dr. J said something like, “Long time no see!” I remarked that this was a record for us one whole year from a birth. Nurse D just whacked Mark on the arm and asked him why were were there (smiling of course). Mark told Dr. J that he felt with gas prices rising we should come in and give him a little extra spending money.

And, the lab worker there goes to our church and popped by to tell me she thought I was pregnant two weeks ago…and not because of my belly! She said she had noticed “the glow” when I passed by a couple of weeks ago.

Dr. J just talked to us and answered questions…like we had any, but we did have a couple (about exercising no less). Then he loaded me up with some prenatal vitamins. Which I noticed had a stool softener in them…um, I failed to see that so I might have to mention to him that we are milling our own flour and eating lots of fruits and veggies these days so maybe I should lay off the softener and stick with it au natural to avoid any painful potty times…I know too much information, but as I love to read on other’s blogs, it’s my blog, I can put what I want to!

I get to go back in a couple weeks for a “regular appointment” and for him to fill out our adoption paperwork (which really floored him…in a good way…I actually think he may have been thinking, “Better you than me!” He’s a great doctor and gets a kick at how many kids we have and is impressed by our parenting…like all five minutes he’s seen)…and hopefully to check on the baby or, as my sister-in-law is hoping for, babies….more on my thoughts on that later. This is already a long blog post.

Kids’ Comments

Zoe: “I don’t think so. Is there really another one? Not another brother!”
Ace: “Mommy’s got a baby in her belly!” Actually, I think Ace already suspected it because he announced to me Monday night that my belly was still big that meant I had a baby in there.
Liam: “Okay!”
Josiah: “Ahhhh, >>rasperry

Need Some Input…

So, I was trying to find a new t-shirt that said just what I needed it to say.

Something like:

Yes, they’re all mine.
Yes, we know what causes it (can’t you see we like it).
Yes, we’re expecting, again.
No, the baby’s not an accident (but planned by God).
Yes, we’re thrilled!

Hmmm, what do you think??

Yep, here comes another one on March 17th.

Now here’s the details for all you nosy people who have to know! And because I want to share.

We weren’t “planning” on getting pregnant…hello?! We’re working on an adoption right now and wanted to add to our family exclusively through that. We still feel that adoption is God’s will for us. However, we also just really didn’t “worry” about preventing for our own personal reasons, knowing that if God wanted us to get pregnant again, we would.

I thought there might be a chance of a #5 last month, but it didn’t turn out so. I was convinced we wouldn’t have to worry about it this month…God is in control…He knows we’re adopting, etc.

I decided that since my “friend” didn’t show up on it’s appointed day (trust me, I’m like clockwork), then I would go ahead and do a test the next day. I had felt a little nausea, a lot of tiredness (mostly attributed to getting ready for and going camping) and a lot of irritability. I still didn’t think much about those symptoms, but since there was no evidence otherwise I decided to test.

Surprise, surprise! One word (it was one of those new fangled, can’t second guess digital tests): Pregnant!

I didn’t tell Mark about the test or my symptoms (except he knew I was always tired…but I’m always tired). So, I devised a plan. I bought a maternity shirt and more tests (just to make sure it wasn’t confused…it wasn’t). My spring/summer maternity clothes missed the spring consignment sale because we couldn’t find them. I am now convinced that the house ate them…along with Zoe’s ballet leotard from last year. Okay, back to the story. I put on the maternity shirt and met him at the door when he got home…I just couldn’t wait. I asked him if he liked it (I didn’t…too low cut and very uncomfortable on top), and he said yes.

“You don’t think it makes me look pregnant?”
“Umm,” he says as he looks me up and down.
At this point I was grinning and had to say something quick or I would bust…
“Because that’s what I was goin’ for.”
Biggest I’ve ever seen his eyes get! He stammered out, “Your pregnant!”
That was funny.

We were both in shock all day, but I think it’s finally sinking in. It’s a good sweet surprised shock that God has truly blessed us with children! As opposed to an, “Oh my gosh, what are we going to do and how are we going to cope with another child.” Like adding another child will really throw our family for a loop…hmm, I can handle four but five, oh no!!

As far as adoption, we’ll be continuing on with it. There are no restrictions on waiting, etc while you are pregnant. By the time we finish with the adoption this baby will probably be around 1 or so. We’ll just have to pay a little bit more to update our home study after the baby is born.

TA DA!

Despite being “let out” of his crib earlier in the morning yesterday (more like falling after Liam let the railing down while I was in the shower), Josiah has managed to progress in his steps!
