Adoption Update Again

We had our first home study visit yesterday. A travel 3 hours away to have this meeting, with the kids. It went okay but we went long and the kids got wild. Mark was wondering what the social worker was thinking as Ace and Liam chased each other with action figures around the conference room and neither of us batted an eye.

I think it went good. Mark was pumped. He asked me why I wasn’t excited, mainly because I can’t see my daughter’s face right now, so I know we still have a way to go. It’s good to be started though.

Just pressing on and on to the next thing…getting ready to go camping! Loads of fun.

I’ve had several people ask me what the process is and what we have to do, etc. I’ll work on getting a post together about all that over the next week or so and put it up so you can be praying about us and it for each step.

Josiah’s Check Up and Busy Busy!

Josiah had his 12 month check up today. It turned into a sick visit as he started running a fever yesterday and it got up to 103! She checked for strep but so far, it’s negative. He had a great check up and was lucky to not have to vaccines because of the fever, as of now. No problems, good muscle tone, should start walking soon, the works. He waved at Dr. B and Liam was so sweet and kept talking to Dr. B. Very cute. I kept wondering where my children were. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them so sweet and quiet and nice in the doctor’s office…very nice.

Here’s Josiah’s stats:
22 lbs 2 oz (40%)…that’s a great jump from our April weight recheck at 25% and 19 lbs, 4 oz.
30 3/4 inches tall
19 1/4 inches (97%)

He’s dropped off on his height gain so now his height and weight are proportionate…instead of being tall and skinny. I don’t have the percentages for his height, she didn’t write them down…could be because Liam was showing her his new shoes for the umpteenth time!

We are going today to meet with the social worker for our first visit in our home study. We have another visit next week and then a home visit the following week. Phew! Trying to get stuff going. We have to travel 3 hours away. We don’t have anyone to watch the kids, so they are coming with us. Please pray that behave and are as good as they were at the doctor’s office. I’ve got a bag of goodies and snacks, so they should be well manned. If all else fails, we’ll get out the dvd player and let them veg in front of it.

Happy Birthday Josiah!

We were so excited to celebrate Josiah’s first birthday today! It really does feel like the time has flown by. He is such a joy to have in our home. At one year old, he is crawling on all fours…not the belly slide anymore. He loves to talk. Playing with his brothers and sister is a joy for him. He is climbing on anything he can reach. He loves to pull everything off the coffee table. Food is his friend and he enjoys being with it very much…however, he still loves to spend time with mommy nursing (twice a day, yippee). He can win you over with the biggest smile that says, “I’m going to get into something, just watch.” He absolutely loves playing in the water, be it the bath, pool or the cat/dog water bowl. He sleeps about 10 to 11 hours a night before spending time with mommy. He takes two naps each about 2 to 3 hours long (yeah, I know, it’s really nice).

We celebrated today with some friends over for lunch. Ge & Granddaddy came up and celebrated too. We had a yummy lunch followed by yummy cake and Josiah enjoyed his “smash” cake. Then he opened presents. He didnt dive into the cake too much. I’m afraid I filled him up on lunch but he did enjoy the sweetness and got a little dirty.

I’m afraid we have a ton of pictures, so I put it on a slide show. Thanks Tracy and Mark for taking so many pictures! All in all, it’s been a fun day. I’ve really enjoyed it since this is the first first birthday I haven’t been pregnant and feeling blah!

So, enjoy!

Yippee!

We should have a new Wal-Mart Supercenter within the next couple of days. Yes, we already have one but it’s a whole 10 minutes away! This one is only 5…at the most.

Yep, it’s amazing what I get excited about nowadays…a new Wal-Mart. I have no life 🙂

Changing to Feed Burner

I’m changing my subscribing feed to Feed Burner. That means that if you typed in your email address into the Blogarithm thing on the right, you’ll need to click on the little orange thing above it to subscribe in a different thing (don’t you love my technical talk), I’ll wait a couple of weeks to take Blogarithm off. I think Feed Burner will be better at sending out updates.

What to Do with Liam

Hold him prisoner!

Jail Break

Yes, yes, Liam has been in to a little mischief today. He and Ace thought it’d be fun to take Zoe’s liquid body wash and pour it on Liam’s head. As he walked downstairs to show me, I panicked thinking it was going to go in his eyes and rushed to clean him off. Now his hair smells like Hello Kitty! Body wash…yum. He looked up at his shampoo and said, “Dat’s soap. I don’t pay wit dat.” Wish he had realized that before they dumped the whole bottle on his head.

And another Liam. He’s told me two days in a row that he had to go do #2 and has gone in the potty. #1 still is in the pants. Once again, my kids are doing things backwards. All three now have potty trained #2 extremely easily. He’s the first one to do #2 first though. Yep, we’re weird.

Major Surgery and Minor Aches

I had to do major surgery last night. Lambie, Liam’s cuddly, lost his blankie. Not sure if this is Lambie number one or number two but either way, he needed his blanket fixed. I’m also not sure how he lost his blankie but he did and his sweet owner came to me and asked me “fix it pease.” So, we started surgery. Liam was by Lambie’s side the whole time, whispering words of ocmfort (not joking!). Turns out I didn’t sew it completely on the right way and after surgery, Liam threw him down…no fear, he did sleep with him last night, though.

Concerned Daddy!

Kisses for a safe surgery!!

Alright, so we traveled to “Old McDonald’s” yesterday to meet up with some MOPS friends. The kids were all excited. They ate, played, and came home with bruises and bumps…well, two of them did. I’d thought I’d share this so everyone will know there were witnesses!

Zoe ran into Ace and pushed him into the edge of the slide. As soon as it happened, I whipped out my witch hazel (Tucks pads, for hemerroids…yeah, I know, but thanks to a friend, they help to ease bruising and owies…they really do). Unfortunately, this time it didn’t work so well and his face remained red for the rest of the day. Today it’s not as noticeable.

Zoe thought she’d get a “slide” burn and take off some skin on her knee and here’s the aftermath. I didn’t put witch hazel on this because I didn’t want her to scream from it burning. She came up to me after she had calmed down a bit and said, “I think I need to take a minute off the playground.” And that she did, then she ran off and played. She only limped half of the day and just screamed as she took a shower at bedtime.

No owies here, just a cutie with chocolate milk down his shirt. He had to get a picture since I was taking a picture of the other two.

JB was just laying beside me so cute…still no owies on this one, although he’s done several flips into the dry bathtub and a couple down our two stairs…no big bruises yet!
