What a Great Husband!

I am trying desperately to catch up on my scrapbooks. I’m working on 2006 and 2007 so that I will be all caught up for 2008. My plan was to work on them each month and finish a month at a time (I do family scrapbooks…no time to do individual ones for the kids…I’m good but not that good). Unfortunately, being pregnant, MOPS, and kids got in the way as well as trying to finish up 2005. (I know I’m supposed to start with the current but I can’t just leave stuff unfinished)

So, I asked Mark if he minded helping with Josiah during the other kids nap times so I could try and get caught up. He agreed. Yesterday and today got me caught up through May 2007. I’ve also finished up Liam’s baby book (minus his birth story)! I’m so excited and so blessed that he is willing to help me do this. I’m hoping to finish up June during nap next weekend.

I’m clearing the kitchen table which gives me space to set up 10 page layouts and then I go around, lay them out, and work on each one. So, in about 30 minutes I can finish 10 pages. Not as much fun as cropping with friends but desperate times call for desperate measures.

You’ve Got Your Hands Full!

Ugggghhhhh! This morning, I decided to venture out the with the kids while Mark helped a friend move. We went to a CareFair for Women that is held in our area. It was huge. LOTS of women there. If I just knew the kids would behave, I would have gotten a facial, makeover, and massage plus other things. However, I just settled for perusing and getting my blood drawn to check my sugar level and cholesterol.

I can not count the number of times I was told, “Wow! You’ve got your hands full.” I told Zoe we needed to count how many times we were told that but she didn’t start counting until we left and then she shouted out, “That’s one mommy!” I was a little embarrassed but the lady who had said it then had no clue what she was talking about…so it was a good inside joke.

I so get tired of hearing that. Especially when it’s not literally true. I had two free hands it so happens. Liam and Ace rode in the stroller. Zoe stuck by me and Josiah was snug as a bug in the sling…see “hands free” minus the pushing of the stroller.

Oh well, I guess that’s better than the comment about me needing a psychiatrist!

I love babywearing because…

it keeps my hands free! I’ve used the ring slings with all my children. It’s great and keeps them sooo comfy. I started making slings with Josiah and now I am working on selling them. However, I would love to try a wrap. Josiah loves his sling and will not sleep in the morning without being in it. He’s comfy and I can work with the other kids while I wear him.

Taking Things Literally

We went out for pizza tonight and on the wall of the restaurant, there were really cute sayings. One of them was “kwityerbellyachin” (or “Quit your belly aching”). Mark read the sign aloud and started laughing. Ace was being whiny, so Mark joked with him about the sign.

Zoe patted her tummy and said, “No, daddy, my belly feels fine right now.”

She asked me again, today, why I read without talking.

Go to Time Out!

Yesterday, Liam was really hungry and started fussing while I was making lunch. He wanted to eat right then! I just casually told him that if he was going to be fussy he might as well just sit in time out. He walked away and when I went to check on him, he was sitting in time out. Of course, he only stayed there briefly.

Today, we were getting ready to leave to go to a friend’s house and he started fussing about something (“pitching a fit”). As I was scooting everyone out the door, I walk in the living room and there sits Liam in time out.

Now, we don’t use the time-out often. Mostly for whining and complaining. Liam’s only been in time out maybe twice. I guess he’s so used to hearing us say it for Zoe and Ace (mainly Ace) that he took off to do it and cool off.

More Conversations at the Table

The following was overheard at lunch today.

Ace: I like playing outside but it’s too hot to go outside right now.

Zoe: I don’t like going outside because of the bugs.

Ace: There are not any bugs. They’re all with Jesus.

Zoe: No they’re not.

Ace: Where are they?

Zoe: I don’t know.

Ace: Well, the bug in my bathroom is with Jesus.

I admit with the heat, we are having an over run of bugs. Yuck! But the one in Ace’s bathroom is no longer among the running! We have not discussed death in that great detail with the kids…not sure where they got the death-Jesus association but to apply it to bugs is pretty ingenious in my opinion.
