You know you’re getting big when you can’t just sit down on the floor anymore…you have to literally fall down to get there! At least I can still get up.

Gettin’ High Tech
For Mother’s Day and for my upcoming labor and delivery, Mark got me a nice MP3 player. I’m so excited and the fact that I can actually use it. We received the fm transmitter for it yesterday, so as we ventured out to do errands, I plugged it in and we were able to listen to mo’ better music than what’s been floating around in the car. It’s so cool. I feel all gadgety!
A thing I’ve learned about crock-pots…
They only work if you turn them on AND plug them in…I can’t count how many times we desparately needed a crockpot meal and it sat in the crockpot all day without being plugged in or plugged in and not turned on or not plugged in but turned on. I think I’ve got it right today though (at least I hope so or it’s McDonald’s tonight).
Change of Plans (Construction Update)
Well, it looks like Mark will be installing the vinyl tile in the closet after all. Our friends are doing some MAJOR renovations as we are and clearing out the storage room and pulling up carpet is last on their list, sooo, we decided to go ahead and install the tile. We have it and it’s easy to do.
Also, Mr. Bill couldn’t come by today to work on the doors/trim, so he’ll be by tomorrow to do that.
That’s fine. It gave me time to go by and order our faucet fixtures and to get some stuff to make a baby present.
We picked out the vanity and the vanity top. I also picked out the toilet…I told the guy I just wanted something you sat on and could flush…nobody but me finds that funny…why should there be so many choices about what you use to dispose of waste???
Construction Update Monday
Okay, so we’re hoping this will be our last week of construction updates…maybe a little bit more into next week…but we’ll see. We still have to paint our bedroom and finish painting the boys’ bathroom…but that’s not a biiiiggg rush.
We had a friend come over and paint the master closet while I was at MOPS today (thanks big time Brian!!) and he also waited on the tile guys to come and finish the grout…which they did. Everything is looking good (except for all the stuff scattered throughout my house). The stucco guys came out and started on that.
On tap for this week…Mr. Bill is supposed to come by tomorrow to finish fitting the doors and do all the trim. We are planning on going today to pick out the vanity and sink/countertop and give that information to Mr. Bill tomorrow. I’ll go by sometime to pick up the bathroom faucets, etc. The plumbers are supposed to be contacted today and we are praying they will come out to finish up the plumbing. Soooo, if all goes as planned (pray and keep your fingers crossed) we should have our master bath ready for use at the end of this week.
What’s left???
- The closet has to be carpeted and organizational stuff will have to be installed (all us).
- The roof has to be shingled.
- Landscape and clean up outside around the new addition (including roses!).
- Boys’ bathroom painted and new bathtub installed (the new bathtub will not be until after Josiah is born).
- Boys’ bathroom closet needs to be shelved and possibly doored if my dad has time to make them.
- Of course painting master bedroom and boys’ bathroom.
- And windows which were ordered but won’t be in until after vacation (or during).
We’re winding down!
Why I love being a mother!
Construction Pictures Updated!
Here are some pictures from construction…finally!
Our bathroom shower tiled. I was so excited that we were able to get tile that looked this nice and was inexpensive!
Okay, this is pitiful, you can tell the new tile from the old because our old tile is sooo dirty! This is the tile in the boys’ bathroom.
Mark prepping the floor for tile. We were going to tile yesterday, but as we started, I read the directions and it said something about priming the subfloor. We stopped and decided to ask Mr. Bill if we should do that. Oh, well…at the latest, it’ll be done tomorrow night.Construction Update Friday
Well, the tile guys came and quickly did the bathroom floor and grouted the shower. It looks really good. We stepped out for a couple of hours to make a planning trip to Lowe’s and pick out the finish we wanted on the faucets. The tile guys didn’t grout the bathroom floor (the boys’ bathroom) because the mortar hadn’t set by the afternoon.
We waited on the drywallers until after 1 and then Mark called Mr. Bill who said they wouldn’t be coming today. That would have messed up our plans, but Mark said he’d do the sanding and Mr. Bill brought over the sander that night. Mark sanded while I went out to a MOPS thing at a friend’s house. He was white when I came home.
So, painting and hopefully floors tomorrow.
Construction Update Thursday
They came on Thursday to do the tile around 9:30. And they worked until they finished the shower which was around 4:30. It’s a lot of work because only one person could do it…the other cut tile. They all got a kick out of my kids. The drywall guy came too but was gone by the time I got back from dropping the kids off at Annette’s (Isn’t she a great friend).
On Friday (today), they will be grouting the shower and doing the bathroom floor in the boys’ room. Mr. Bill is coming by to get $$$ and to fit the boys’ bathroom for a door. Mark is off today (he was going to work to store up time for Josiah but he’s pooped). So, we are heading to Lowe’s this morning to pick out bathroom faucets and our closet stuff as well as take back the unused tile (yahoo!).
This weekend promises to be very loooooonnnnnnggggg! We should be able to paint which means two rooms have to be primed and painted and have the floors installed (which we’ll be doing). The other two rooms (the master bedroom and the boys’ bathroom) may have to wait until we have a little more time to get painted. We have a friend coming over to help paint and he is very efficient and good so that shouldn’t be too bad.
I know I said pictures…they’re coming, I promise.
Quick Kids Update
Zoe is finishing up speech next week. We get the summer to break…but really the summer is for us to work on it together! She’s doing so well and working hard to get the sounds out and very patient when we correct her.
Zoe and Ace are now officially signed up for ballet in the fall. Ace has pleaded with us for several months now to take ballet and he is super pumped. Zoe is always excited about ballet. When Ace hits five, we may try him out in a children’s ensemble that teaches acting, etc…he really just wants to be up on stage entertaining people (yes, even at 2), so that would give him a good outlet to get his goofy energy out.
We got Zoe’s school books/workbooks in yesterday. One I’m sending back…it’s a handwriting book and all it has in it is the letters and lines to practice writing…we already have reusable stuff for that! She sat down in the hallway yesterday and flipped through all the books. I’m not sure how we’ll wait a few months before we start…we may have to delve into the workbooks some before August! Ace kept asking if they were for him, too. I think he may be too young for them, but I’ll try him out and see. If not, we’ll order some more for him…otherwise, we may just stick to the basics for him like cutting and coloring.
I would declare Ace officially potty trained. He has done sooooo well. We don’t even put him in a pull up during naptime. He does have to have one at night though. I’m so excited about how well we’ve all been about pottying!
Liam is climbing on everything! I had to put the chairs down so that he wouldn’t climb on the table yesterday (I couldn’t/didn’t have the strength to keep correcting him with my back pain). They were still down when the window guy came…opps! He continues to use only a few words, “dye dye” is back for “bye bye” and then he says “hi” to everyone he sees…whether they are looking at him or not. He also says “dada.” And last night, when I played “Where’s your belly?” He said, “ge-i, ge-i” for “get it, get it, get it.” He also says “Ka-e” for Katie, my best friend’s daughter and his “girlfriend.” So, he can talk but he is very particular about what he says…strong-willed child!
Josiah has squirmed down further and is now literally sitting on my lap. My braxton-hicks contractions (those that really don’t count as contractions because they are so irregular for those that don’t know) are getting a lot stronger. We’re praying he doesn’t send me to rest time and make us skip our much much needed vacation (and paid for). He wiggles and worms a lot. The other night Mark and I watched him doing a little dance as my belly kept moving up and down really fast. He’s going to be bigger than Liam but I’m not sure if he’ll be bigger than Ace. I got the letters to put his name up with and will try and get them painted and up soon. Besides that, and needing diapers, we’re good to go. We’ll get diapers at the end of the month and that should take care of that.
That’s all for now. Pictures later!
