These were taken at the dairy farm we visited in October. They had a huge hay bale and a bunch of hay on the ground for soft landings.
It looks like he’s taking off…but he’s actually about to land! Right after this was when realized that mid air spirals never had soft landings despite what was underneath.

Waaay back in October. Among our other adventures, we headed to a dairy farm that has just started a corn maze. It’s only twenty minutes from our home, which is amazing considering that we live in the middle of a city (a small city but still not full of cow farms!). We all had a great time. Not only did they have a maze but they had other activities too. Like…
Yep, we had fun at the dairy and can’t wait to go back next year! The goal is for them to create their own creamery to process and sell milk from the farm. They are also renovating the dairy so that it can be toured. It’ll be fun to see what all they do next year!
The Indians going to help with a “skirmish.” We’re not quite sure what all involved but we know it had something to do with those “rebel” patriots and some Hessian mercenaries (I sure hope I spelled that right).
This guy was amazing. He was a lace merchant. Not a lace maker…that’s what those peasants are for. He imitated a french lace merchant who had fleed France because of the revolution over there. He would talk and work on the lace. It was amazing to see how lace was made. Although, he said it was not very time consuming, it sure looked like it. He’s known as the annoying Frenchman and he played it to a ‘t!’
I’m not sure if these are regulars there but there were turkeys and chickens all around. And they were pet turkeys and chickens. The kids were able to go right up to them and pet them. *Note Ace’s notebook…yep, we’re homeschoolers!
Ceili Rain was amazed at the tame turkey (I’m guessing he thought if he behaved he wouldn’t end up on a plate this year!).
And yes, we are still stuck in October. I’m almost through with the month though. If Bryant keeps on napping as he did this past Friday, well, I’ll be caught up by the end of the week!
Okay, I was super pumped to get a chance to review this CD. We are big Focus on the Family fans and the kids have shown much interest in Odyssey stories when we’ve downloaded their free podcasts. So, I finally got the chance to see how they would enjoy a full cd!
Before I get to their review, let me give some detail about what my sleep deprived brain is talking about. Adventures in Odyssey is a good ol’ fashioned radio broadcast for children that teaches Biblical characteristics. It centers around Wit’s End, a soda shop, and the issues that kids typically deal with in their homes, schools, and Christian walk. Adventures in Odyssey is full of laughs, adventure (hence the name), and some really talented voice actors and actresses. The Cd we reviewed, Cause and Effect, deals with relevant issues including fear, truth and friends.
This was our first full on experience in Odyssey (the fictional town discussed through out the series). We jumped right in with “The Mystery of the Clock Tower.” And we couldn’t stop listening! The kids were hooked from the very beginning. Each episode we’ve listened to (and that would be almost the whole cd) has been funny, engaging, and teachable. We received the cd in the mail the day before leaving on a road trip (yep, another one…because we don’t travel enough…wonder if the Duggars would sell us their big charter bus). The kids watched some DVDs but we spent most of the trip listening to and discussing the episodes from the Adventures in Odyssey CD! The cd reiterates what we are already teaching the kids and weaves Biblical truth into a story that is fun and engaging and tangible!
I highly recommend Adventures in Odyssey: Cause & Effect and can’t wait to finish the cd and get another one for our family road trips! It’s no secret…I’m a blog stalker. I’ve been following Lora Lynn at Vitafamiliae for awhile now. I think she knows it too and may be a little creeped out by me. No big…anyway, they are in the process of adopting and while our adoption is on hold (still), hers is still moving forward. To pass the time and buy me more time editing photos…here’s a few shots of my little B. Saying he’s little is a bit oxymoronic in that he’s quite tall! My rough measurements put him at 27 inches (and he was a bit squirmy as I was trying to measure him). His head is almost at the top of the infant carrier so his new car seat should be here soon. He celebrated his third month by moving from 3 to 6 month clothes into 6 to 9 month ones. “Little” doesn’t really describe this guy!
But cute and cuddly does! He’s so sweet and loves to be held. And I find it a little stressful for this protective mama to see that he gets thrilled when his brothers bounce him in the bouncy seat. Really high bounces. His greatest laughs come when we bounce him on our knee or make a sudden movement with him.
And he’s the first of the crew to actually enjoy tummy time! I think it’s because he can see what his siblings are doing around him.
No doubt about it. I love this little guy as much as I love his brothers and sisters! They are a wonderful gift to us!
Just wanted to report in that I have not abandoned exercising! And, thanks to have a stomach bug not once, but twice this past month, I am now five pounds lighter. However, may I recommend not losing weight due to a virus!
I have to confess that due to the ins and outs (pun intended) of being sick we have not been exercising at home as much. I have been sticking with my first day to 5K and am going to finish up week 4 tomorrow.
And finally, I hit the lewd lyrics. They are pretty raunchy, so I adjusted. I looked up on my iPod what the bpm intervals were and wrote them down. Then, I plugged in TobyMac and worked out! Much more uplifting.
I also got “the big head.” And thought my 5K training self could take it out of the gym and off the treadmill. So, when we took the kids to the park this past weekend, I did my exercise on the track. Yeah. I’m not ready for that. For one there’s inclines and instead of keeping a steady pace where I can slow down, I found myself trying to run to the music. That was hard. Very hard.
So, when I went to the gym for day two of week 4, I increased my incline but didn’t try to break out into a full on run or jog. I think I need to build up my resistance before trying to actually jog quickly.
No more big heads here…I’ve been deflated but will continue on to week nine and then, start over again in hopes I will be able to do more actual running the second time through.
Oh, I’m getting some pictures ready for posts for next week so stay tuned.
Hehehe…I know what you all are thinking! But remember, Bryant’s only three months old…that would be a record for us. So, no, I’m not pregnant, and no, our adoption process is still on hold.
Anyway, we are rejoicing in our household because Ace accepted Christ as his Savior. Mark had the privilege, yet again, of sharing with Ace how to commit his life to Christ. This time, though, I was able to sit with Mark and Ace as Ace prayed for forgiveness of his sins and asked Christ to be Lord over his life.
Mark is working with Ace (and Ace is reminding him too) to make sure he understands his commitment. However, we are already seeing fruit from his new life! The Holy Spirit is working in his heart and he sees and is sorrowful when he sins. I can not wait to see how God will grow his heart and his life as He strives to bring God glory.
By the way, Ace had been asking question the week after we returned from Kentucky. Mark was able to sit down with him on Friday, October 22rd and talk to him about some of the things he had been thinking about. I really believe that God used the Creation Museum to prepare Ace’s heart to hear God’s word (as well as going through catechisms and stories related to the catechisms) and be open to a commitment to Him.
This was too funny not to share. While at the Creation Museum we were visiting the animals at the petting zoo. As we got ready to leave, Liam took off towards the camel pen and exclaimed, “Oh look! Coconuts!” and he picked. them. up. I’ll let Liam tell you in his own words what exactly it was…

And in case you didn’t catch that, it was not a coconut that he picked up, it was a poo. Camel poo to be precise. We. were. rolling!
And yes, I did make him wash his hands before we left! Maybe that’s where all the stomach bugs came from!
Oh, and I think I failed to clarify that the stomach bug was only biting at night. No one really got sick during the day which means we partied and spread germs all day and then stayed up all night throwing up (well, Ace and Ceili Rain did).
