Only 9 more to go…

My contractions yesterday were not as strong as I thought but they did do something…I’m dilated 1 cm. Josiah is still pretty far up. Of course, my cervix is softened because I’ve given birth to three children….sooooo….we’re pretty much just waiting around for whenever God chooses for Josiah to get here.

My doctor wants to induce before he goes out of town on the 30th…He really wants to be there for the birth. I like to think that it’s just our family that is special but he treats all his patients this way. I told him we would see how I was progressing by the 27th (the day he wants to induce) before I would let him. I really really would like to go on my own. So, all my friends (even if you think I’m insane) please pray that we go into labor before the 27th! Next week would be ideal for family and friends (except Annette…but you’re always out of town when I deliver 🙂

On a vacation picture note, Mark should be getting the camera connected so I can post pictures tomorrow.

We’re Home!

One week and 9 hours later, we are home from vacation! We had a wonderful time and I’ll post pictures from our “Bamapalooza 2007” trip later this week. First to unpack. I just wanted to send out a quick note that we are home.

No major injuries…biting flies and dodging crabs all week….Zoe got a splinter in her finger and Liam did good (minus having his thumb closed in the door by Zoe) until last night at our pit stop, he pulled the hairdryer down on his face causing a bruised lip and bloody nose. I’m glad Mark had him or we would have been searching desperately for an ER in the middle of nowhere!

It really was a fun trip with all of Mark’s college roommates and their families. There were 10 adults and 5 kids (all under the age of four) total. Mark definitely has a unique friendship and family bond with these guys. They got Ace out of saying, “Underwear!” all the time…but now (thanks, Uncle Ryan), he says, “I want to ROCK!” What are uncles for huh?! Ace and Zoe have taken calling these four special guys their crazy uncles! Uncle Scott has magic and can make a fire light up in a fireplace with a little wave. Aunt Heather was brave enough to take all three kids on in an effort to make sugar cookies…they may have looked funny but they tasted good.

What a fun trip. We’re looking forward to our next “Bamapalooza” trip in two years! We love you all!!!

I made it through without having a baby…contractions have been really strong and frequent (not consistent) all day today…I think most of that is because of sitting still riding in the car. We’ll see if there is any progress at the doctor’s tomorrow.

I have got to unpack and get some stuff together for Josiah’s baby book…it’s crunch time now!!!

Josiah update

We were given the all clear to go on vacation with the strict rule I was not to do anything. I haven’t dilated yet but my cervix is softened. That could still mean five more weeks, but if I were to overstress it could be sooner. So, I’m limited but ready to go relax.

This is going to be an unusual vacation. I am so used to going and going when we are on vacation (I’ve been that way since I was little)…this vacation is going to be beach and pool with a little trip to souvenirs. I’m really looking forward to just relaxing after all this construction stuff.

We’ll post pictures soon!!

Belly Pics and Pregnancy Thoughts

I wanted to get some pictures of the kids with Josiah in utero…however, I’m not so confident in my stretch marked plagued belly to show it off…so, we got some cute pictures of them touching my “clothed” belly. Zoe was more than cooperative. Ace was a little hesitant. Liam, we had to ask where my belly was and take the picture before he pulled my shirt up.

We are all getting excited about Josiah coming. I’m anxious to get through vacation before he comes. I have enjoyed this pregnancy. However, this past month has found me more physically limited and frustrated than I remember being with the others. I’m hurting a great deal more due to vericose veins and of course, my contractions are getting stronger. The back pain is minimal (with that minor episode a few weeks ago) but the big bulge in my front keeps me from doing a lot of things. I have all of Josiah’s things ready and we’re ready to pack our bags (which I’ll do after vacation). I haven’t registered for the hospital yet but plan on getting the form to do that this week when I go see my doctor.

I would like to have a minimal intervention labor and delivery which means no induction…a first for me. The epidural was not very pleasant last time and scared me because I felt a weird pain on my right side from the epidural going in. I had very little pain block on the right side with both of Liam and Ace’s births and my left side was so numb with Liam that I couldn’t put weight on that leg for several hours after birth. So, with God’s help and my trusty mp3 player…oh, and my wonderful birth coach, Mark, I should be able to get through labor…provided I can start without pitocin. We are praying for a safe and healthy delivery no matter how he gets here!

Some nice pictures of our kids (from April)

I was waiting to post these pictures because we wanted to give the gifts to our mom’s for Mother’s day. Each year, I make a scrapbook page for them to frame for the year. I started this three years ago with Mark’s mom. I gave her the scrapbook page and the frame one year then another scrapbook page and the scrapbook to keep it in the next year. We started it last year for my mom and this year she got her scrapbook to keep the pages in. We had some really good pictures this year, so I had trouble just making one page…I had to do two this year. It’ll be interesting to see which pages they choose to frame and which to keep in the scrapbook. We took “non professional” pictures for the spring in anticipation of getting some good professional pictures of all six of us in the fall/Christmas time.

Here we go…

Well, Liam almost made his first trip to the ER. I know I keep typing that every time he hurts him self but he’s gradually getting worse and worse.

Yesterday, while at Mark’s parents home, he was banging on their storm door (which has glass on one part). Mark and I were packing up and had just headed out of the bedroom to find Liam (the other two were outside). As we headed out, we heard what we thought was Liam clanging around then shrill cries. Mark got to him before I did. He had busted out the glass on the storm door and busted up two of his fingers on his left hand. I was okay until we couldn’t get the one finger to stop bleeding.

We thank God that Mark’s brother is a vetrinarian and was able to help evaluate whether stitches were in need or not. We did the pressure thing and then bandaged it up. Right before we left, we looked again and it was doing good. It only started bleeding again after we took the gauze off of it.

Where he got the deep slice is where he bends his finger (on the pointer finger), so after getting home last night, we put a popcicle splint on the finger and used that all day today. It’s healing very nicely and isn’t bleeding anymore but he did give us quite a scare.

He has no qualms about using his hand all bandaged up! I said he was my daredevil!

Visiting Papa & Grandmere, etc.

Here was our last stop for Memorial Day. Mark’s parents opened their home to not just our family, but also to Mark’s brothers’ family. So, all total there were six adults, and seven children (ages 7, 4, 4, 2, 2, 16 mths, almost 8 mths). Four boys and three girls! Thanks Mrs. C and Dr. C for having all our crew over. The kids loved every minute and we enjoyed seeing you all!

Aren’t they the sweetest little girls! This is Gwendolyn, Zoe, and Oakley. Oakley and Zoe were pretty much inseparable the whole time we were there. They loved playing with each other.

Jonathan, with Liam and Ace. They had a great time together. Hudson, the 7 1/2 mth old was napping durin

Ace loved playing with Hudson. He calls Liam his “favorite friend.” Now Hudson is his favorite friend, too.

Liam’s learning to “cheese” for the camera when we pull it out he does this!

Liam thought Hudson was a trip. He still doesn’t get the be easy part!

Happy Birthday Jacie!

My (Abbie’s) niece had her birthday party last Saturday at a great stables/farm area. This was on Saturday. Zoe, Ace, and Liam loved every minute.

Two little princesses on a hayride…notice Zoe’s princess sit! Zoe’s sitting beside the birthday girl (in the pink hat).
Jacie riding the horse

Zoe went right up to the horse and hopped on. My child knows very little fear…she’s been begging us to go to ride a roller coaster! That’ll be daddy’s job.

Ace did the same as Zoe. While waiting to ride, he told Mark he wanted a horse for birthday…I think he meant a horse birthday party. Mark yelled out to me what Mark said and then Ace turned around to confirm it to me. He loved the horse!

Ethan, Jacie’s brother, riding a horse.

Aunt Yaya (Abbie’s sister) with Liam…trying to keep him out of trouble.

Zoe said her favorite part was riding horse and fishing. She caught one fish. Unfortunately, when she caught her fish, Ace and I were working on our catch and in all the excitement, we forgot to get a picture of Zoe’s fish!
Here is what Ace and I caught. The line was wound around the turtles front leg. I broke the reel trying to get what we thought was a fish in. The guy who owns the farm said, “That’s where all my ducks have been going.” We had noticed there was one mama duck with just one baby…last year (Jacie had her party here last year) there were at least 10 or 12 ducklings running around. Ace kept saying, “I caught a mean one and a mad turtle…”

This is before the turtle incident!

Visiting Granddaddy & Ge

This was the start of our very busy, fun, and adventurous Memorial Day weekend. We got to hang out with Ge at her work…a high school classroom…and then out to eat and back to their house. Despite all the smoke from the fires in Waycross, the kids really enjoyed playing outside.

Granddaddy also enjoyed the outdoors with a little snooze. Not sure how he napped with three children giving kisses and love pats but he tried his best!

Just hangin’ out!

Relaxing in the swing.

Liam with Mr. Gus right behind. Gus, the dog, is getting to be close friends with Liam!

What a goofy face!

Feeding the fish

Here is my daredevil…he was really “adventurous” this weekend (see the post about the visit to Papa & Grandmere’s)…he’s standing in a chair, peering over the fence on the top of the playfort in Granddaddy & Ge’s backyard.

New Words

For books, movies, ballets, whatever that has a mean part but then a nice part (fairy tales, happy endings), Ace calls it, “Me-nice.”

“Is it me-nice, mommy??”

Oh, and a while back, if he wasn’t listening to what people said or he didn’t hear it he would say, “Icahearya.” or “I can’t hear you” really really fast.
