Will the sickness ever end???

I was interrupted this morning during my snooze/nursing time with Josiah to Ace fussing. When I went in to check on him, he said he wasn’t feeling good (a common term he uses for general complaints) and that his belly was hurting (again common for him to say). I started reassuring him and trying to coax him back to sleep when he started to heave. Aggghhh! We made it to the bathroom and he threw up and continued to do so until about 8:30 this morning. He even threw up water. Yuck. He was so pitiful about it. He slowly ate a toaster strudel (probably not the best choice, but that’s what we had since it’s the end of the month and I was planning on grocery shopping) and swallowed down two glasses of milk (again all I had for an upset stomach) and then he was off to play. He acted fine the rest of the morning and was great when we went out to just get juice but also some coupon buys.

I think Josiah may have it too. He’s choked a couple of times and then has also spit up a lot and he threw up on me yesterday during supper (lovely). I just pray the rest of us don’t get it.

I’m becoming a germaphobe and washing hands every chance I get!

Tea & Tutus

Zoe and I had a fun afternoon out at Tea & Tutus. This is an event put on by Columbia County Ballet the weekend of the Nutcracker. It’s a fundraising event and a lot of fun for moms and daughters (well, someone brought their son, but I wanted it to just be a mom/daughter thing for us). That night we went to see the Nutcracker. We being Mark, me, Zoe, Ace, and Liam. Josiah hung out with our babysitter/friend.

Ummm…double gross!!!

We had some friends over tonight for supper and while they were playing after supper, Ace came up to me.

This is what I thought he said, “Mommy, can you get the boogie out of my nose.”

When I asked for him to repeat it this is what he actually said, “Mommy, can you get the mawble out of my nose.” And then he proceeds to dig where the marble is.

I lean his head waaaay back and sure enough…tiny bead in nose.

Luckily, our visiting friends said to plug the other side and get him to blow. That did the trick and it slowly came out. I gagged!

Double Gross! No, I didn’t get a picture of the marble or Ace because I thought he was fixing to push it all the way down his throat and that’s just plain gross! After he got it out, he asked for it back. I asked him how it got there.

“I pushed it there.” Duh!

This weekend and Aceisms

To kick off my birthday celebrations…the big 3-0 on Wednesday…We visited with my family, watched my dad’s team when the regional championships, and played with my niece and nephew. Pictures to follow. Now the Aceisms:

As we were walking down to greet my dad after the game, Ace told Mark, “Granddaddy’s my hero!”

He ran up to my dad and patted him on the leg and yelled up, “You did a great job, Granddaddy.”

All unprompted and sweet as can be. Do ya think he looks up to my dad?

Arrrgggghhhh!

It looks like Liam wants to be a pirate. During school time, Liam had a collision with someone or something and injured his eye. This all happened yesterday. I was worried for a little while because he kept rubbing it and it kept watering. He’s much better today and we actually saw the “old” Liam for a long time at MOPS. He’s really adjusting well and feeling much better. Very little “Hol’ me”‘s were spoken today. He had a lot of fun at MOPS and didn’t fuss at all when I went to the meeting.

His first sentence was “May I be excused please?” Probably because we get him to repeat it word by word to us before he gets up from the table. And, no, it didn’t come out that clear but it was recognizable by Mark and myself.

Zoe’s teaching him phrases too. Yesterday they worked on, “I don’t know.” Which his came out “I know,” in a cute high pitched voice. It was very cute. She’s enjoying having a little one to teach all sorts of stuff. He gets a kick out of making her laugh and will repeat the phrases over and over again much to her delight.

Two Ace Funnies

At breakfast today here was the conversation:

Ace: Hosanna is coming.

Zoe: Who?

Ace: Hosanna is coming. To bring us presents.

Zoe: Oh, you mean Santa.

Yesterday was towel/sheet wash day and I instructed Ace to go to his bathroom and get all the dirty towels and the washcloths that he could reach. As I was loading the washer, I noticed a lot of washcloths. I went back to his bathroom and discovered he had taken almost all of the “clean” washcloths from the drawer and brought them downstairs to be washed. Now they’re extra clean.

The Stank!

Last night and more so today, I’ve noticed a very unpleasant odor coming from our kitchen. Not sure what it is, my sniffer and I went on a hunt. It kind of smelled like cat spray but both of our cats are fixed and don’t have a history of spraying (one’s a girl), so I wasn’t sure what it was. Plus, we couldn’t see any cat spray anywhere. Mark went on a search tonight. Under the dishwasher, removing the board to look under cabinets. Washing placemats, rugs, anything and everything we could find. It didn’t help.

Then, Mark decided to sniff a pumpkin…that was it. One of the kids had brought home a pumpkin from the corn maze and apparently, it had gotten a hole or was rotting away and left a pleasant odor behind. Ewww! I really was worried that something had crawled under my cabinets and died…thank goodness it was just the pumpakin.

My plans

My plans for today included getting up and grabbing breakfast (since we had no milk, oj or eggs) and head to the gym. Then after the gym, go to Wally World for our monthly grocery run and to restock on the weeklys (bread, milk, oj). Then we would head home happy and content and fix lunch then clean up and head to bed for naptime.

However, plans change.

Liam woke up this morning with a fever. This is on top of his runny nose that has been going on for almost two weeks. So, we skipped the gym and headed straight to the big store for groceries and drugs.

Monday while we at Josiah’s check up, Dr. B checked Liam’s ears again since he was still runny. His ear had clear fluid in it but no signs of an infection. She started out saying that we could bring him in if he didn’t get better or if he started running a fever, then she decided to just write out teh prescription if we needed it. Needless to say, we needed it and now he’s on zithromax. I feel so bad for him. He feels really yucky and you can tell. I’ve tried motrin and it didn’t keep the fever down long so we’ve added tylenol into the rotation.

Sick season has started in our house!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Alright, I’m officially posting on our cuties for Halloween. So, technically, the polls are closed. Thanks everyone for voting on my sweet peas.

Here’s the results:

Zoe: With 14 people voting, 71% said she was Strawberry Shortcake, 21% said Georgia Peach (which she is to me), 7% were goofy and said Bob the Tomato…and 71% of the people were right. Miss Zoe was Strawberry Shortcake. Okay, all you late 20 early 30 somethings get out of thinking about the “old” frilly Strawberry Shortcake. Zoe was the updated new and improved one. Blue Jeans, striped shirt, jacket around her waist and the ever present big floppy hat. She had the jeans. I found the shirts at a store. The hat I found at a consignment sale with the cheap one piece jumpsuit costume. I sewed red hair to make her hair. Total cost probably around $10. The jumpsuit costume was about $20 online. A lot of people made comments on her. She was the only Strawberry Shortcake that we saw at the Trick or Treat thing last night.

Ace: With 92% saying he was Peter Pan and merely 7% saying Spider man. Mr. Ace had a time trying to come up with what he wanted to be for Halloween. Decisions are not his strong point. When he said Peter Pan I jumped on it and found out how to make his costume. I ordered the hat though. I found instructions on how to make his costume here. He informed me after I had finished the costume, that he didn’t want to be Peter Pan. However, we informed him that if he didn’t dress up as Peter Pan he wouldn’t get candy. Yes, I know I bribed, but I knew he didn’t want to miss out and I was not going to make yet another costume for him. Everyone thought he looked adorable and so do I. I actually bought the hat on ebay because of time constraints. So his costume probably cost about $10 too.

Liam: 92% of the people were right that he was a pirate. He had been practicing for a long time saying, “Arggghhh!” But getting him to put on the full costume has been a bear and so we haven’t pushed it. We did manage one decent picture with the eye patch. His costume was probably the cheapest because I made a quick vest out of red broadcloth and tied it off with black broadcloth. We used leftover red to make a bandana which he didn’t wear. I found cheap pants at Goodwill that I cut off for pirate pants and that’s that. His probably cost about $5 to make.

Josiah: I guess I stumped people on that one, but if you know me you would have been correct in guessing with 66% of the voters that Josiah was the Cat in the Hat . Of course, that costume was cheap too because it had been used by previous children. Someone had given me the hat which is an adult hat but fun to try and put on them. I made the costume using black sweatpants and a sweatshirt and that nifty sticky back felt. I drew the shapes on the back of the sticky paper, cut it out, and voila! Instant Cat in the Hat. He got a lot of cute ooohs and aaahs too. Although, no candy for him.
