Well, Let’s See.

Today started out fairly good. I slept in with Ace on one side and Liam on the other. Today is the first day my ears have not really hurt.

However, Ace just wouldn’t get up. He kept complaining that his tummy hurt. He didn’t eat supper last night…because it was healthy and I reminded him of that. He kept complaining and sat at the breakfast table with his head down. He ate a couple bites of breakfast and drank all his juice.

Then, when I handed him his milk that he asked for…he threw up into it and all over him and all over the kitchen floor. This is where I thank God that we have hardwood floors and that it is fairly simple to clean up throw up on the floor.

I sent him to clean up and then ran to take a shower because what I planned to do before the throwing up was to go to the gym and then Wal-Mart to get stuff I needed for the rest of the week, then come home, take a shower, and have school, lunch and do a 15 minute de-clutter. See, I planned the day, but God had other plans. After my shower, I tried calling my neighbor but couldn’t get her. After a couple of tries, she called me and agreed to run and get some “blue juice” aka Powerade for Ace. Which he promptly threw up. He was so pitiful saying he was really hungry. I made him eat saltines after that because he kept asking for food. After he kept those down for 30 minutes, I let him have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (which he asked for) and milk. And tonight he ate a few bites of a pizza. His attitude is back, so I think he’s feeling better. If this is the same stomach bug that everyone else has had around here, he’ll probably throw up sometime tomorrow or he’ll be fine.

Miss Zoe is turning into quite the mama and I found her saying the things I say when they have the stomach bug…like, “Here’s the bucket, please don’t miss the bucket…get the throw up in there.”

By the way, Ace did miss the bucket. I think since he’s a poor shot in the bucket, we may have to do what the Gosslin family does and stick him on the floor in the laundry room…except her laundry room is MUCH cleaner than ours…maybe I’ll put him on our bathroom floor.

And Zoe thought it was so cool that Ace got to chill on the couch today that she’s hoping she’s the next one sick. I told her if she throws up I’m going to ask her how much fun she’s really having. She just grinned…childhood innocence…she has no idea! In her defense, she hasn’t gotten a stomach bug since she was about 2 1/2 or so. She doesn’t remember the nasty sick feeling, like you’ve been run over with a truck and any smell of food sends your stomach quivering.

I’m Watching…

My new stat counter (from statcounter.com) allows me to see where people are coming from. So, Bonjour to my one visitor, who stayed 0 seconds, from France!

It also lets me see what people have googled/searched and found me…

So, this tells me several things…
1. Some of you can’t remember my address, so you just google our names to find me 🙂 You’re smart!
2. Putting Masters and plaid pants on my blog has gotten me about three more hits (although they didn’t stay long…I thought the guy in the purple plaid pants was a good one though…maybe if I say Masters again, I’ll get more hits)
3. Lots of people are getting excited about Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed!

I’m waiting for the day I come up on searches like this woman’s blog does. I’m sure I have awhile to go though!

Masters 🙂

Oh, and I’m feeling a little better. Still can’t hear and still hurt some. I’m anticipating waking up tomorrow and feeling so great we can go to the gym!! Yea, right 🙂 I miss the eliptical machine (and no I’m not being sarcastic…30 minutes of just me burning calories…that I have to put back on so Josiah has milk…and my ipod…ahhh)

plaid pants 🙂

Not doing too good…

Liam’s potty training is pretty much…how shall I say…down the toilet! He’s not quite there but I’m not giving up. He goes quite frequently on the potty but he can’t keep his pants dry nor does that seem to disturb him…all we’ve got is time though.

My ear started bothering me last night and continued through the night. By morning, I realized that I was getting an infection and trekked to the doctor with three semi-obedient children and a grumpy baby. After waiting 2 hours, Liam decided he didn’t like my “shoe stays on when we’re out” rule and kept taking them off and pitching a fit…we got in a room and seen quickly 🙂

Ace has a new saying that he made up all on his own. We’ll call it his “mantra” or “motto” although he rarely lives by it: We get what we get and we don’t pitch a fit. A little explanation: Ace has this attitude that he should receive everything he wants exactly how he wants it. Not sure where that came from because we don’t give in to whining or complaining, but it’s there. So if he doesn’t get what he wants he thinks that he can scream and yell and call us names to get what he wants. Again, that doesn’t happen. After having one of those fit pitching episodes at Wal-Mart today, he started saying that. I like it…we’ll use it 🙂

And for those non-Southerners…pitching a fit means a temper tantrum!

Masters Time…

I believe I posted in the fall that some friends graciously let us purchase their two Masters Badges for the practice rounds. My parents are the ones that actually purchased them.

Well, it’s Masters week here, and my parents came up on Sunday to go to the practice round on Monday. They were tempted many times to sell their badges, but choose to trek ahead, and go! When they got back in the afternoon, Mark and I went out there.

It started out kind of cool, but got warmer as we walked. Mark thought that power walking would be the best way to see the whole course…so that’s what we did. We also knew that my parents were tired and had to watch anywhere from one to four kids depending on how they napped that afternoon…and Josiah was due to eat in a few hours, so we booked it. I believe we walked across all the holes but didn’t actually get to see them all. Mark got to listen to quite a few of my silly remarks and we trekked like,

“Oh, those azaleas look just like mine…except mine were free.”
“Got a picture of a grown man in purple plaid pants…I’m done! Time to go home.”
“If I yell, ow, after someone says ‘fore!’ do I get a bunch of money.”
“Oooo, look, Master’s chocolate! Yum! Don’t throw the wrapper away, I can put it in my scrapbook!”

So, our total Master’s trip took about two hours, including travel. Not bad…my calves still are hurting, and I’m very glad I didn’t get up early that day to go to the gym!

We got to see Veejay Singh (I think I spelled that wrong) and Gary Player but that’s about all I know about golf. And no, we didn’t see Tiger Woods! Who cares!?!

As you can see, I’m not an avid golf fan…I’ll take yelling and cheering at a football game over golf! But it was really neat to see such a beautiful course. Oh, they even had air condition outside…okay, not really, it was air used to suck the water off the course. But it was blowing air out from vents just like air condition. I would have loved to be where the action was…we heard several cheers and yells…but, alas, no time…gotta move it quickly across the course!

See, we were there. Mark in front of a bunch of people who are in front of Amen Corner.

Amen Corner…or one of the holes there. Ain’t it purty!?!

My “souvenirs.” I was so excited about these. That’s my “commerative” cup and my wrapper from my chocolate.

A lot of people!!!

See the guy in the purple plaid pants! Not sure who he is. I never saw his caddy.

Meean or Meehan or someone??? swinging.

Gary Player practicing putting.

Amen corner again! Just beautiful!

Adventures in Potty Training, Day One

Okay, so with this being spring break, I thought I would try to focus on getting Liam to use the potty. He’s got the concept down pat…he still doesn’t understand that he needs dry pants, though. So, with Monday being busy (I’ll post on that in a while) and Tuesday was errand day…that marked today as our starting point.

And…the results are…he’s had one accident. I started him off in Thomas the Train undies and that was when he had his accident. After that it was freedom time! He was going when he needed to and telling me when he had to go. I very rarely reminded him, but mostly he felt it and ran! I’m excited he’s done so well. So far, it’s just #1 not #2 yet.

My only concern…going out in public… as far as I know walking around without pants on is a faux pas in this area! So, I have three to four days to really work on it with him and get him undies!

Oh, and Josiah had roseola (well, he still has it). Roseola is a virus that shows up in a fever with no other symptoms. The fever lasts three to four days then AFTER the fever the baby breaks out in a rash. Ace has had it, and so I knew what was going on when I saw a rash on his belly yesterday morning. I called the doctor’s office to confirm. He just threw us off because he was getting over a cold along with the fever. The rash is not painful and in no way bothers him. It’s not even contagious…it just looks bad. So far, the rash is staying on his trunk area.

And…he’s got his eighth tooth in! We found it last night. He’s been in much better spirits today and he slept well last night…phew! Four teeth in less than a week is a bear! I’m praying for a break in the teething for now. He can handle lots of food with eight teeth.

Attending a Wedding…

Mark, the kids, and I all attended a beautiful wedding this weekend. It was a wedding of a young lady who attended the church I was a youth minister at during my college days. During the course of my ministry work there, she became not just a member of the youth (it was a small, “country” church) but also a great friend and one whom I was able to sort of mentor…at least I hope! She’s always been precious to me and through email we’ve been able to stay in touch. She even served as a bridesmaid in my wedding.

I can not count the number of times I cried!!! While I was at the church working, she had signed a True Love Waits card. She presented her groom with the ring she wore to symbolize her commitment to purity! They had beautiful vows that not only reflected their love for each other but also their commitment to follow the biblical covenant marriage roles. They also had a beautiful symbolism of their lives intertwining with Christ. They braided a rope with three strands. Each strand was a different color. The gold represented Christ. The purple represented the headship of the husband and following Christ’s leadership. The white represented the purity of the bridegroom as she waits for Christ’s return. I was so moved by seeing such a sweet girl grow into such a beautiful lady and beginning a new life as a beautiful wife!

We were also thrilled to see people who had been such a special part of my life during my college years.

And after the beautiful sweet ceremony…we headed to a barn! She had her reception at a cute little barn and it was just so her! We loved it! The kids didn’t like us dancing, but that’s okay…we danced anyways! The food was great and the cakes were pretty.

Thanks so much Krystal and Zach for letting us come and witness such a special beginning to your new life together. Continue to grow to love one another and never forget the looks in each others eyes as you made your commitment to each other in front of Christ and His church! We love you both (even if we just met you Zach) and are always here for you!!!

Oh, and if the rest of you are wondering where the pictures are…we left the camera at Mark’s parents’ home!!! Ughhhh!

Rough Go

Josiah started running a fever yesterday, while we were traveling out of town. I called the doctor and they called in a prescription for him. He is doing better today. He slept well last night. And he’s eating pretty good. I’m going to start keeping a food journal for him next week so we can see just how much he’s getting.

He’s nursing better, too. That could be because he now has seven teeth! They came in one right after the other starting on Thursday with the seventh finally in today. I’m expecting the eighth one to come in today or tomorrow!
