Zoe the Ballerina Birthday Girl

Zoe’s birthday party this year ws a ballerina theme (go figure!). She loved it. I found tutus online at a good price and made little candy ballerina slippers to decorate the cake. It was so hot the day before that the icing never firmed up while I was decorating the cake so it got a little gloppy! Zoe didn’t care. She loved the cake and the surprise. We had “rented” a real ballerina who happened to be the Sugar Plum Fairy in The New Nutcracker. She was great. She spent about 30 minutes with the girls and taught them some dance steps. I think Zoe was in awe of her. We’ve seen her at ballet class since, but I doubt Zoe recognizes her because of the costume! I wasn’t sure what to do with Zoe’s boy friends, but we invited them. One came and he and my nephew, Ethan, stayed far away during the ballerina part…just too girly for them. The piece in the center of the cake is a Zoe ballerina that opens up when you press a button and you see Zoe (from Sesame Street) spinning around.

Baby Update

First…the nickname, in utero, of this one is (drum roll please) Peanut. For those that don’t know us too well, we have to call the baby something until we find out what we are having. No “it’s” in our house, so we give them nicknames. So, Peanut it is. Let’s see, Zoe was Baby C, Ace was (I can’t remember), Liam was lil’ bit. Yikes…I thought I could remember Ace’s but oh well. I think Mark would rather call this one parasite since he/she is sucking my energy but that’s okay.

Okay we went to the doctor today and had another ultrasound. I was really hoping we would be ALL caught up and at 11 weeks which would mean only a few more weeks of nausea and tiredness but alas, no. We were 10 weeks. So my official due date is 7/12. The ultrasound measured the baby at 10 weeks 3 days which would put the baby due on my dad’s birthday 7/9. But that just isn’t really that precise, so they left the due date at 7/12.

It was so neat. We may have had an ultrasound at the end of the first trimester with Zoe but I forgot how neat it was/is to see your little one not only growing but moving. We were able to make out the head and Peanut even “waved” to us and gave me a few little kicks so we could see his/her legs.

There was an issue with a cyst that had ruptured at my first doctors appointment but apparently it’s been abosrbed completely in my body and the ultrasound tech didn’t see any other problems with little Peanut. Lots of yummy amniotic fluid around our little one to help him/her grow.

And yes, we will find out if it’s a boy or girl but not until February or March so we all just have to wait a few more weeks and sit through a few more uneventful doctor’s visits!

Huh?!!

Well, I’m in the full blown throws of first trimester pregnancy. I haven’t officially been “sick” (not counting the stomach bug I had)…but the nausea has been overwhelming at times. Here are some things that I find funny about this pregnancy and nausea:

  1. It doesn’t matter if I’ve taken a nap in the afternoon or not, I will always start to slow down and want to crash around 8:30 p.m.
  2. I can not drink soft drinks at all without them making me extremely nauseous. In fact, any flavored drink makes me nauseous. It’s just water for now (which is not an entirely bad thing)!
  3. Foods that can curb the nausea:
    1. chocolate (especially chocolate ice cream)…I find this extremely weird since chocolate is supposed to be so bad for you, but it works, in moderation
    2. cheese…I’m craving cheese really badly. The thought of a cheese pizza just makes my mouth water!
    3. pickles…yep, the good old stand by.

Of course, I do not like all of these together, and too much of one would probably cause what I’m trying to avoid, but these make the first trimester very bareable. And with these three being my main source of comfort, I’m probably going to have to be rolled in to the doctor’s office at my next visit! At least pickles are fat free (I think)!

I’m going to update the website with Thanksgiving pics after I work on my “to-do list” some more.

Trip to the Tree Farm

This is the second year we’ve gone to a tree farm. The kids love it because there’s free hot chocolate, popcorn, and hayride. We have to confess, we didn’t actually pick a tree from the farm because they didn’t look too good this year. We did get a beautiful precut frasier fir from the farm that they have shipped in from North Carolina. This is the prettiest tree we’ve had since the first year Mark and I were married. Here are some pictures from our outing at the tree farm.

One of the higlights of this Christmas season has to be the yard decorations that Zoe and Ace point out to us whenever we get in the car (and they also point out if they are not on). They enjoyed getting their picture made with this gigantic Santa.

Zoe isn’t mad in this pic, she’s just posing!

We were moving…so, Liam was happy!

Thanksgiving Photos #3

Here are the last of our Thanksgiving Pictures. These were in Oxford.

Zoe wants a new bike for Christmas, so Papa took out the trike they have and let her practice on it. Basically he pushed her down the hill in their back yard and she peddled. Her favorite part of the ride was riding over a stump and falling over. She thougt that was really funny. As well as riding into a tree…not sure if a bike would be the safest gift for her!

How silly is Ace-man???!!!

Papa & Grandmere took the kids to the playground and had a lot of fun with slides and swings!
Liam loved the tunnel!

Thanksgiving Photos #1

Okay, here’s the first of the Thanksgiving photos. And here is a general run down of our travels. We left Augusta right after Zoe’s ballet practice on Tuesday and after a last minute change traveled 4 hours to Oxford. Spent the night in Oxford. Traveled one hour to Boaz to see my (Abbie’s) granddad and Aunt Mary. Left Boaz and traveled about 3 hours to Newnan to see my parents and have Thanksgiving with them. Spent Thanksgiving in Newnan. Friday we went shopping and left Newnan around lunch to get to Oxford to see Mark’s parents and spent Friday and Saturday until lunch with them. Yes, we were tired but we had a great time visiting.

Zoe with Great Granddaddy.

My granddad lives on a farm and has several cows (raised for meat). Ace loved seeing the cows and my cousin, Wes (who is way too old now…in tenth grade…I remember when he was a babe), came over and tried to get the cows to come to him. Ace loved Wes and went right to him for hugs and high fives. This is Ace getting his hand stuck in the fence…not sure why!

Ace with Granddad…of course he showed out for him and did all his great silly expressions.

Zoe and Ace being too cute!

Two quick cute pictures from November!!

Zoe’s best friend turned four at the beginning of the month. This is a caught ya picture as Zoe and Nicole’s brother “helped” her blow out her candles!

We’ve done so much traveling in October and November, I think Liam got fed up and protested by climbing in to the suitcase…”I’m not going anymore do you hear me!!!”

Actually, our little adventure crawled into it and got stuck and mad!
